Dear Fury Warriors...

What I find annoying about all the criticism is that it's almost always from a raider's point of view, complaining you can't top the dps-metres any more - well, that certainly is very sad, but who is really, royally going to get *ucked over are the folks who are just starting to do regular 5 mans on lvl. 80 ! Not everyone is in a guild willing and capable to just "shuttle" them trough tough instances to get the gear that's necessary to even think of competing with "real" dps.
The way I see it, there's always a point where warriors are considered "OP" - usually at the point where they are decked out with high level epics and generate so much rage that they can spam HS and every special attack on a cd almost indefinitely.
In order to balance things out for a very low percentage of players, i.e. hardcore raiders, Blizz decides to nerf ALL warriors, pretty much ruining the game for EVERYONE ELSE.
This is what's bothering me most, even though I don't even care much for dps-ing in raids oder instances, the new prot is just too much fun to play.
Regards

Ghostcrawler shouldn't be playing favorites, which currently seems that way since he's giving Protection a handjob at the moment while Fury and Arms wait in the corner for their turn.
If prot is getting a handjob, protection paladins must be having some wild orgies.
Also I have to say I disagree with the notion that prot warriors were crap and now good. They used to to be the definitive tank, they were heads above the rest. In BC they brought the other tanks up to plate (oh, my puns are so clever!) but still weren't 100% of what a warrior was. Now prot warriors are inferior to other tanks in some circumstances (which is alright), and inferior to paladins in
all
circumstances. I'm happy that other tanks can MT now, that part's great, paladins eclipsing warriors, not so great.
Don't get me wrong, the changes they made to the ability to do damage, and being able to solo as prot, and not be a pushover in pvp are downright amazing. They made prot warriors pretty awesome, then took all that and gave it to paladins too and then some.
Ever try to do
Brann Spankin' New
with a warrior tank, and without any of the other 3 tank classes?
Note : This is a threat about Fury, sorry for the tangent :)

I did, with only myself as a plate class. We had a druid healer, though. Does it still count?

If they take a 10% tax on Fury damage we are doing 90% damage while everyone else does the normal 100%. It's like we're walking around with a permanent debuff. Having crappy buffs doesn't help either. Our BS gets overrided, Comm Shout sucks, Rampage is mediocre compared to LotP, and there's so many other things we do subpar it's not even funny.
This is a WONDERFUL example of how to lie with numbers.
You're stating that Fury is doing 90% of it's damage while everyone is doing 100% of their damage. Fair nuff.
However, you then make the argument that a 10% damage nerf makes us weaker than other classes.
However, you fail to take into account that Fury is doing a LOT of damage right now.
I've seen Fury warriors surpass 4500 DPS. The next highest I've ever seen another DPS class do was 3500. That makes a big difference when you look at the percentages.

If the highest DPS you have seen was 3.5k other than a Fury Warrior then those players are not pushing to the maximum. I have a guildie mage who pushes 5k easily, and even on bosses in Heroics. I've even seen Enhancement Shamans do so.
Maybe next time you look at such numbers you should take into account the skill of the player. A stupid Fury Warrior isn't going to faceroll himself to 4500 DPS if you think so. Any class can push 4.5k if they actually put their mind to it, but obviously the people you are going with are not even trying.
Every class can pump out 4.5k if they can do their rotation correctly and they actually know their class. Fury Warriors can do it as well, I have seen it before in my own DPS and in others, but just because someone's highest DPS is 3500 does not mean someone of the same class can't do higher. You have to think about the player's gear status and skill.
You can't measure someone of lesser skill in gear in balance with someone else of greater gear and skill because that makes no sense. Take two players of relatively same skill and gear level and measure that.
It also depends on the boss encounter. Most Naxxramas fights are melee-unfriendly. If Melee is doing better than Caster in these fights then your Casters must be doing something wrong.
I don't top the DPS meters every time I run with my guild either. It's always the Mage or the Warlock. I don't see how people can auto-assume we get number one DPS, sure it's possible if the time is put into it, but there are other classes who can get it much easier.
DW DKs = Massive DPS. What Happens? Nerf.
Fury Warriors = Massive DPS. What Happens? Nerf.
Mages = Massive DPS? What Happens?
Nothing.
And I agree with everything you're saying, but at the same time my own experience has been that the prevalence of high Fury warriors is greater than that of other classes. While that might just be a fluke of odds, it bothers me somewhat.
And I always use Patchwerk for DPS meters so it doesn't unbalance the melee. :P
You're probably right, I'm just trying to devil's advocate the situation.
