Does the massive increase of opinion on the internet do more detriment to our society by causing deeper polarization, or does the vast amount of fact available provide us with a greater capability for coming to fairer, more responsible decisions?
I think both of these points are moot compared to the other things achievments made possible by the internet. I don't care if people are polarized. Also, people will almost never make responsible decisions, with or without the internet. I see the internet's value in its array of availbale knowledge in learning, not opinions.
Edit: It's like the invention of paper... did this hurt or help society?

I see the internet's value in its array of availbale knowledge in learning, not opinions.
This is the crux of the question, because I find more and more people treating opinion as fact.
The same arguement could be made against the invention of paper. Transfer of opinions hurting society more than the retaining of knowledge helps it? What do you think?
