Bah, it's not serious enough for me. I'm okay with putting jokes and stupid stuff in manga occasionally, but I dislike it when entire plots are based around it. Villains just seem silly...

Are comics compared to its anime similar to books compared to its movie? As in, one is more in-depth than the other?

Not really. Most anime do it right and stick to its manga storyline.

Fullmetal Alchemist reigns supreme.
One Piece is pure amusement.... and completely bloody worthy; no offense to some of the fights in Bleach and Naruto, but One Piece wins between the Devil Fruit Users and the pure brutality of some of those pirates/marines. I've read some Alchemist, and /shrug; though my all time favorites are anything by
Hiro
; especially Fairy Tail and Rave.

hmmm...
I've overheard Queggy mentioning that he enjoys the One Piece series... I've watched nearly every episode in English up to the point of some 'sky kingdom' point in the story. But, I also heard that 4KIDS butchered it.
So I'm wondering, should I start watching the One Piece episodes from where I'm pretty sure I left off, or should I start completely fresh, starting with episode one?
(I haven't watched the show in 2+ years, btw.... uuurgghh.)

Watch the Sub heh, they are always better then the Dubs... for the most part; Vision of Escaflowne is pretty close no matter which version you watch.
