But even still, you'd have to have another player in the group who COULD use it give it to you. This means pulling the trinket from the cold lifeless fingers of the tank who wants it for an off-set or a Rogue/Druid/Hunter/Warrior who wants it for their main/off set.

I have manners. That was just one trinket that I thought I could use. So I mentioned it.
no need to take that personal. They are right. anybody inspecting you with that one will most probably try and kick you.

That trinket would not work for priests. Melee or Ranged crit does not mean spell-casts. That means hitting the mob with your staff/mace/whatever or wanding (maybe, I'm not sure about that one).
Spell casts do not fall under the category melee or ranged.
I believe that's what sinespe was saying.

Sure, why not?
Just change that gem on your belt, I'm not sure why you'd want to use that one. Also get IED for your meta gem. Get your rep up to get the better
shoulder
(Hodir) and
helm
(Kirin Tor) enchants.
You'll generally want more crit%, haste and probably regen for the harder content, but that will come as you lose the hit rating for better (properly) itemized gear, which you'll get from raiding... You can certainly heal anything besides ICC or TotGC with that gear. You can try and get into a TotGC or ICC group, but you'd probably get carried by other healers a little... Anyhow, you have to run Onyxia (cloak), VoA (tier pieces), TotC (trophies and drops) and maybe even Ulduar 10 (for trinkets, particularly Spark of Hope from Kologarn and Sif's Rememberance from Thorim Hard Mode).
Edit: You can upgrade
legs
and
gloves
with 2 pieces of T9.1 from the vendors outside TotC with Emblems of Triumph. 20% bonus to a spell you should be using on every CD and which is arguably the best use a Priest can make of a single GCD (besides the ever underestimated Lightwell, anyways) is priceless. I don't feel like upgrading to T10 (or equivalent) gear because I love that bonus so much. Get that ASAP.

You really haven't taken on much advice from here. So, honestly. Do what you wish, the information and spec's are there. Use them if you want to get the most from your priest or if you even want to make it into a PuG.

^^ I didn't look at your spec, but get Holy Concentration and Healing Prayers. You can get better Glyphs than the Renew and PoH ones. Also, if you're going to keep 3/3 Emp. Renew, try and get the 4pc bonus from T9 set, I guess...
I'd really swap those 2 Glyphs for CoH and Flash Heal, then swap talents from 5/5 Emp. Healing (or take 2 points from Emp. Renew and the 3 points from Blessed Resilience) to 2/2 Healing Prayers and 3/3 Holy Concentration, something like that.
