There are many things the class could gain besides plate that would make us more viable as a powerful healing class when compared to paladins or druids. As for me, I'm bad at speculating so I eagerly await the new talents and spells we'll see with the advent of WotLK. Last I checked, 2.4 is going to be the last content patch (i.e. no 2.5) before WotLK, I seem to remember a blue saying that, but I can't for the life of me find the post. Here's hoping it'll be released sooner than later. :)

I also remember a blue saying something like they have additional content to release, in case Wotlk would come out too late.
To remain somewhat on topic, don't get your hopes up, we will never get plate. Theres one healing class for cloth, leather, mail and plate. We're the cloth ones, deal with it.

My one wish would be some sort of permanent agro dump for shadow priests... something like vanish / feign death / Soul Shatter/ Invisibility
I vote to call it "Instill Fear" that permanently reduces threat, cost is 300 mana - tool tip states that you make a growling noise that causes your target to become frightened of you reducing your threat permanently by a certain amount.
Or you could have a "fade to black" which causes you to fade into the shadows permanently reducing your threat... once again cost 300 mana

Priests need(*):
- Proper crowd control/escape skill for PvP and leveling. Psychic scream which often is resisted/forsakened/trinketed out of has a prohibitively long cooldown.
- Aggro dump. Fade is lame and doesn't neccessarily actually save you, either during the spell's duration or after it wears off. I've dungeoned, pulled aggro with my heals, faded, had the mob still attack me despite the fade (and of course I have to heal myself when I get attacked, drawing more aggro onto myself...) Sometimes this killed me.
- More variety in attack spells. Only 2 viable holy attack skills and no spammable shadow skills leads to predictable and in the end boring gameplay.
- Attacks that hit more than one target would be most welcome. (Don't mention holy nova plox... :D )

permanant undispellable unpurgable unspellstealable chargeless buffed inner fire. oh and maybe some sort of buff that stacks with more priests like say a fortitude aura that gives 10+ stamina per holy priest around or something crazy like that. kthxbai.
