I went with Ragnaroak.
Ragnarok is the norse god of doom but that was already taken so I added the a
It's not a god. It's the doom of the gods. The time where crap hits the fan and the end result is Odin's death. Also known as Gotterdamerung. Which, in itself, would be a pretty cool dk name imho. Anywho, kudos on sticking with the norse stuff though.

My original DK back in Cata was named Dulcebella. I normally stick to a naming convention with "-bell" or "-bella" at the end, depending on the beginning. (My lock is Trixabell, paladin is Pallibella, etc.) I deleted that DK and gave that name to my mage during MOP, so when I made a DK last month, I had to come up with something new. I started reading through Latin names, found "noxxi," which means death, and named her Noxxibella, or "beautiful death." She's a Drae, which is my favorite race.

I deliberately named my (male Forsaken) DK "Frigids" because I knew at the time that I want to play Frost and only that. For inspiration I looked through the names and tooltips of spells, talents, etc. It is my only DK and I made him as soon as I had WotLK installed.

My DK's name is "Reiner"
Reiner means
"judgement warrior; deciding warrior"
- so I thought ... why the hell not? haha

I generally make a "bank" joke in the name. It started out as a class which I never planned to level, and now it's just something I do as a joke that only I understand. haha
(e.g. dkbank was taken on the the new server I've been playing on, so I'm "dkvault")

I used to play that game, and seeing he was a wizard (my main when I started wow), a cleric ( my holy priest is my 2nd most played now) and I was making a DK cause it was more interesting than a warrior

I came up with Volithras. I don't even remember how or why, just that when I spelled it out I knew I hit personal-aesthetic-gold. I feel that it sounds vampiric, but I'm no linguistics major

My DK was named "Verime" (Veri - slavic word for blood I believe, and Rime means frost)
Another decent one is Velage (Vel is a root for poison in some language I don't remember which and the rest is just some extra letters to make it sound like a name)

I named my DK Woofbark because, in my high school years, naming a Worgen woofbark would be funny.
6 years later and I'm too cheap for the name change, rip me

I named my unholy DK Wellish. Because
1) He's undead.
2) As an unholy DK he's a master of pestilence.

Amortis is from my first D&D group when I was growing up. I had really bad spelling back then and spelled a mortal Amortis. Mortis Morti means death and A is short for atypical or unusually death. Then I found out about morti is what the pallbearer which buried knights and the leader of the knights amortis meaning owning the death's bearer's because they would carry the penet and arms of the dead knight. Which lead to D&D second edition my spell mages tended to end up Amortis and my pure warrior types Vlor or Byórðaeir because of something that happened over the christmas holiday I spent in norway. The joke was vl-o-r was the diminutive of Byórðæir because it sounded like beee... ore dur air... and my friends kept pronouncing vlor vee lord... which was really funny. But Amortis was on Dalaran from a couple months in when the severs stabilized and rerolled with the wrath of the lich king. Pretty much around that time I started using Vlor and Amortis as my mains in most games, because they were odd enough to pronounce most people did not try to steal them. The other joke was I was fincine and econ class and amortizing costs is to have justified the value for what you spent. That should make sense to people who play with money it is really bad pun. It is the groaners that are fun.
I have seen this come up before but half the time people usually just want to steal names... but hopefully the people who see this are more interested in seeing how to come up with their own twist on something in their life.

In the D&D elven to common translator Maizan means Knight of Death. So that's how he got his name.
