oh my oh my what a greedy bunch...
If you can DE, ffs DE the stuff than roll on the shard ! , you have EXACTLY the same chance to get a shard as if you keep quite and greed on the item itself...
If someone ask me to use my trade skill for him, I'll do it... for free... if it is something hard to get , like a raid drop recipe I expect some tip ...
BUT COME ONE, making a fuss about DE ? not telling the party that you are DE and let them vendor blues because you are too greedy (and stupid by the way)?
I find a person like this in my group ever its an automatic kick/ignore..

Well its really pretty simple. You wouldn't be in the instance unless you were in a group. You wouldn't have the opportunity to roll on the item if you weren't in the instance. The ability to generate shards for your party members is a reason to group with you. As an alchemist I need to level my alchemy. I generally offer my pots to party members for free, after all I need to level anyway and it makes me a more desirable group member.
Are you obligated to shard for party members? - No of course not. However when we group for an instance we always ask if anyone is an enchanter. Then we ask if they are willing to DE for the party. If the enchanter reveals himself/herself and is unwilling to DE for the party, that is their right and we may or may not include them in the group. However you can bet that we will look for someone else next time. If the enchanter disavows their profession and we discover that, we'll kick them and find someone else.
Non enchanters need enchanting mats too. We have no other way to get them than to find an enchanter to disenchant our BoEs or to arrange for DEing BoPs in a party.

Because why should you just be allowed the blues because you can DE them, when people can all roll on them and vendor what they win?

I kinda agree there is more need for a enchanter to get the shards now, but to say, either i get the shard or the item doesn't get sharded, which is basically what you are saying is abit selfish. The group doesn't really know you, so if they give you the shards they don't benefit. But if the blue doesn't get sharded in the end its a lose lose situation for everyone. Honestly, rolling on the shard is the best option, think about it, in the end some enchanter is going to use the shard anyway, think of how many times you have given someone an enchantment on condition they had the mats. If all enchanters stopped sharding for people it would just end up with less shards being around for all enchanters.

I don't have an Enchanter, but if I did, the shards (needed/rolled items) would be mine.... How else is the enchanter suppose to get items to dis-enchant while in raids/groups? Seems only right that Enchanters should be able to "need" items, as needed... However as always, there will be those whom abuse others generosity... The key is to play with people you trust and enjoy playing with... And if you don't know the peeps in your party make it clear from the start... that everyone must ROLL - "Greed" - and whom ever wins the item, WINS IT... End of story. Enjoy :)

Seems to me a bit strange, but isn't the usual rolling for a shard just as fair as greeding for an unwanted item, shard-rolling only bringing the value of the bop blue up through sharding it?
I mean, you only just skip the sharding step by greeding the item firsthand. And if the OP thinks he's better off not saying he's an Enchanter, then I think it's a selfish way to act. You stand the same chances of getting a blue you'd shard, but the others just lose the opportunity to have a shard out of a blue bop item.
