For me it depends on their initial reaction. If they run around tagging my mobs before me/making a point of /ruding to me etc, I will be just as rude back, with /rasps and spitting, etc. However, that is when they were being outright mean to me in the first place. Tag my mob once and I get annoyed, run up behind me with an instant nuke and I get mean hehe.
However, 99% of the time when I see an alliance toon I stop and wave, even to the ones Ive seen lately fishing in Orgrimmar. Like someone posted above, there is a human behind the keys, just trying to enjoy their game. If I'm running along the path and see an alliance toon in need, low level or not, I'll help out with my meager dps, and then /cuddle and hug.
My best encounter so far, was on my baby paladin (horde) running around Tarren Mill. There was a (skull) drenaei running around herbalising. Someone next to me /shood and spit on him, however I /waved and smiled. I was emoted to follow, and so I did.. although I was kind of uneasy at being led away from the guards.. until I got an emote to sit and wait. I nodded and plopped down ^^ and the alliance logged, and suddenly I got a tell saying, "Youre the first horde to be kind to me all day, and Id like to give you a free inscription, so run to booty bay, and I'll pop a few on the AH for 2c each."
Sure enough, I ran to booty bay and there he was on the alliance waiting for me, and I got a pally stun inscription :) ... The next morning I woke up to 4g from him in my inbox as well. Aww :3 karma.
Snuggles to allies :)

To me it doesn't really matter if they are horde or ally if they aren't flagged pvp.I will give them a hand.Dueling them is a different story. To many times a duel from the oppasition is a trap. They get you to duel then flag for pvp,and their pals jump in and gank you.

Horde and Alliance can be friendly to each other on PvP servers, but on the other hand, even if you play on PvE you're not safe.
This happened to me today, I play on a PvE server ad was leveling a Horde paladin alt in Stranglethorn. Was in the troll ruins north of Booty Bay when a 70 human warrior came, saw me, aggroed everything in the ruins, pulled them on me and went away. Of course when the mobs leashed, they returned on me and proceeded punching my face off. I wanted to bubblehearth, only to find Divine Shield was on cooldown at that moment. /sigh corpse run.
So I'm a 70 tank on the same server, Alliance side, and if that warrior (he was DPS specced) joins my party, I know I will just not tank for him. But it saddens me that even on a PvE server there still are idiots who like to ruin someone else's day.

I'm usually friendly to allies as I always tend to avoid confrontation when on the road. I've also helped allies with some quests (dpsing powerful mobs) and they thanked me back. It's a nice felling actually.
I also don't kill low level allies. Not because of principle but because it's not fun nor challenging. But I must be ugly or something, because I almost always get attacked on sight, even by lowbies, strangely enough (pvp realm).
I'm a man of peace, provided nobody steps on my toes :)

When I was leveling my Warlock in the Hinterlands I came across a Blood Elf Warlock at my level. After bowing to one another we went back to what we were doing. We ended up pulling mobs to the same area and dotting the other ones mobs and our own to kill them faster. When they were done, they bowed and took off.
I recently decided to skin some mobs in STV to make some money and came across three level 39 Horde characters. They just stood there for a sec and I began to skin what they had killed. We then began to dance and later I saved them from a pull that surely would have killed them then took off.
I play on a PvP server and enjoy it quite a lot but when it comes to getting things done I know how hard it is so I play nice outside BG's unless I have to defend myself.

Nothing personal but if I see a horde player fishing in IF I kill it regardless. In world settings outside of towns I usually ignore them unless they are flagged then they die on sight period. I am on a pve server and the only people who flag deliberately are either gankers themselves or people with an ego. hmm come to think of it I just kill horde players if they are flagged and expect them to return the favor...wierd isnt it.

I only play on PvP servers (Mug'thol, Tichondrius, etc), since it just doesn't feel like a proper game unless there's some faction stress involved. But I've found that it doesn't mean we of the oppsite factions can't be friendly and help each other out.
While on my BE priest, I was doing the infamous quest for the
Aged Gorilla Sinew
, and already killed a couple dozen gorillas without a drop. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a Dranei pally, and knew if he wanted, he could wipe me out. After a moment, he came running up to me while I was getting beat, and figured that was it. Instead, he beat down the gorilla, and then stood starting at me. Then he left to go back killing gorillas. So I went up to his next kill and dotted it up. After it was dead, I /danced with him, and he /danced back. So we got together, and traded off killing gorillas. During it, a butthole hi level Orc warrior rode up and started whacking at the poor space-goat pally, so I /yelled at him to quit, and the Orc managed to stop before the pally died. I explained the situation to the Orc, he /shrug'ed, then mounted up and rode off. I waited for him to heal up, and we went back to killing gorillas. One of us finally got the sinew, but we kept at it until we both had it. We /danced and /lol some more, then /waved, /hug'ed and rode off together to Booty Bay. A very special moment, and certainly one of the best times I ever with an Alliance player.
We saw each other a few times in various battlegrounds after that, but always laid off one another. We'd /wave and run off to kill others.
