So engineering got no benefits for tanking? cause i believe the other epic trinklet drops will pwn those. And the helm will be replaced by other epic drops.

1) Enchanting gets +24 stam enchants to rings (very cheap too), which amounts to 48 stam benefit over other professions. Enough to make me happy my tank is an enchanter.
2) The blue trinkets aren't too exciting but i'm hoping epic ones will come with time.
3)If they make the engineering helms anything like TBC they'll probably be close to top 3 available helms for the situations.
Dunkamo, inscribers aren't getting an extra slot last news ive heard.

Thanks for the info. Sucks though that engineering has nothing that will really stand out against high end raid drops.
Question: The skeleton key made in blacksmithing, will that open old dungeon doors as well?
That would be great because I'm making a DK, so there will be no rep and no keys for anything. Being able to make a key that gets me in to say... UBRS or Heroic Mech or whatever would be cool. Probably wouldn't use it but it does itch to know you can't go to any of those old places, doesn't it?

This list would be even better if you put in it items that require to have a profession to be used, like done
here
.
I'm not sure what you mean, but I did include all known items that require a profession.
For example: Scrolls of teleport from inscription, sockets from BS, toys/trinkets from engineering.
This is kinda the whole point of the thread... you might want reread it

The new BS key would probably open any doors that were pickable by max-level TBC rogues, but if a door wasn't pickable before, I doubt Blizz would let us just whip it open at will. (besides, the keys will probably be expensive to make :( )

BS and JC together would make an insane duo with the bonus slots and the bop gems, and thats what my DK is doing.
Remember, blacksmiths can only add 2 sockets to gear and JC can only make 3 gems with the bonus stats.
So a blacksmith/jc would gain no additional benefit than a X/JC or a blacksmith/X
Consider it like this, if you put 2/3 special gems into 2/2 extra sockets you can still only place 1 special gem into the rest of your gear (vs a x/JC who can put 3 into the rest of their gear)

Jewelcrafting = 42 AP or 21 AGI or 21 STR or 21 Crit Rating or 21 Haste Rating or 21 Hit Rating or 177 ArPen
--- Jewelcrafting = 62 AP or 31 AGI or 31 STR etc. (counts avoiding using a blue gem instead of a red for meta requirements)
I get How the 42 AP, 21AGIL etc. basically it give 7 extra, times 3, its 21.
But how did you get the number of 62AP? 31AGIL?etc. please explain, any1.
You are very correct. I'm not sure where i got those numbers from. I think they might be typos.
Prismatic gems can count towards meta requirements (they fit in any slot), so if you sacrifice some pure dps stats (like agility or crit) by using a purple gem (to fit a blue requirement) you gain more using a prismatic.
If you want strength and you use 3
Sovereign Dreadstone
to fill meta requirements you can replace it with 3
Bold Dragon's Eyes
, gaining 51 strength not 31.
I'll look into it more and maybe fix the typos, thank you very much for double checking my maths. If anyone sees broken links or math problems please point them out.

As far as i know you can socket prismatics into any socket (except meta) and if the socket has a colour it will work to activate that colour for a socket bonus on that item.

My main is a prot warrior, I currently have enchanting and skinning but jsut because i was lazy when i picked professions.
For tanking, LW would provide a lot of a bonus because of the wrist enchants, however LW doesn't offer much else for a plate wearer.
My best suggestion for a tank would be
Mining/BS
The combination offers great stamina/hp as well as some items that might help as you level.
