Wowhead has released its long-awaited
Item Comparison
tool!
This is not just a side-by-side tooltip system, it's a fully-featured comparison tool with a number of unique capabilities!
Easy-to-use
drag & drop

any combination of items

Sample A
- Comparing the
Crystalforged Sword
and the
Continuum Blade
for tanking paladins.
Sample B
- Comparing the
Nexus Key
(a staff) with the
Maelstrom's Fury
(a dagger) and the
Chronicle of Dark Secrets
(an offhand), for Affliction Warlocks. Note that the dagger and offhand are grouped, so you can see their combined score.
Sample C
- Not sure which chest piece to use? Read the Gains row and pick the item with the bonuses you prefer.

EXCELLENT feature. I absolutely love it. Question, though. Is there any way to add gems to the sockets to compare items with the added gem stats and whatnot? Or is that something you could look in to adding in the future? Just me being nitpicky. XD

Okay, played around with it for a while. It's as amazing as I thought when I first saw the idea. Just a couple of things - wouldn't it be also handy to add a Compare button to every item's individual page? It's not truly necessary, but it's situationally helpful.

Can there be something that allows your toon's info to be uploaded and then as you look at items it compares it to your toon?
A profiler is on the way. Until then, enjoy your new toy! :)

I know this is more than likely too much to ask for, but is there any way to have it so the items with random enchantments can have their enchantment selected to they can be added to the weight scale accordingly?

No, this is something that would need to be added in the future. In the meantime you can use the # of sockets when judging which item is the best.

(Although i'm sad...some of my best rated posts involved showing the +/- gains from two items...)
EDIT: I have discovered a bug! You can't put in item versions from Wotlk and the same time as TBC items (it over rides whichever you did first) For example i put in the TBC version of
warbringer shoulders
and the Wotlk
version
and it made both versions the same.
I was trying to compare my current tanking set to what it'll change into in wotlk (since items get rebalenced)
Also, some wotlk item
have
the compare button and some
don't

How am I able to view my select items as a whole? I can only view them in 3D one at a time. How can I view them all on my character at once?
Drag them all into one column on the comparison, and then select "View in 3D" from the dropdown.
