Mmmm the reason i see a dps war as a problem is because alot of people DONT know how to use them right i was on my hunter dps'ing H bot and we had an arms war for some dps and i open recount a see that hes doing a measily 460dps which is pretty low for his full merc glad gear and some other epics he was mad the tank couldnt hold all the mobs and im thinking in my head * maybe if they ass could deal more dps maybe that wouldnt be an issue*
*edit* and on another note he didnt use execute once even when he had over 50 rage...using it as an arms war wouldnt have made a huge difference on certain high hp mobs

I feel for the other warriors here. I've been turned down by three groups in the last three days that were looking for DPS. As soon as they saw I was a Warrior they declined. I wouldn't have felt bad except that I was in a Coren Direbrew group and afterward someone posted the DPS chart. I was only above the healer in DPS. Even the Paladin tank had done more damage than me. The Mage had almost doubled my DPS output.
I thought I was OK as I'm decked in nice shiny purple enchanted DPS gear and weapons (though not arena weapons). Apparently I need to L2P though. :(

I take DPS warriors to dungeons all the time. Usually, I'm reluctant. I view the Armory of the person to make sure they aren't all greens or wearing full PVP gear w/ a two-hander & the *wrong* talents for PVE.
Why? Well, I don't want a head-on Arena-spec warrior getting a free ride off my spec & gear. I know it isn't possible for them to shine on the weakling trash in most Heroics, so they are doing great DPS with a PVP spec that means the rest of my group sucks, bad.
Now reread the top: I take DPS warriors to dungeons all the time. However, they have to know what they're doing. I'm not taking any player along for a free ride. It's a group effort.
Generally, I won't take a full-PVP geared & PVP talented rogue, either. Mages, warlocks...I don't even care. It seems I have less trouble from casters than I do any other class. I even take Retribution paladins.
If a player shows they are smart, have good talents (means they read & have some experience, it's impossible to pick everything perfectly on your own), then I'm likely to take the person. Just the other week I had a Fury warrior with blues, greens, and a couple epics. He was undergeared & he knew it, but when I let him speak he told the truth. He earned his invite, and earned the right to stay as well. In the end, we got him some epics in Heroic MGT which he desperately needed. It was a win-win, in my opinion.

As a warrior, you are expected to be a tank if no other tank is available. If you don't like it, reroll another class.
Or just /ignore
I'm a prot warrior, but I leveled fury and only went prot because it was so hard to find groups. Not even for heroics, it was tough finding groups for regular instances in OL as well. I was
always
beat out by a rogue.

From a full-time, T5 geared warrior, tanked everything from Deadmines to Tempest Keep and Serpentshrine Cavern.

I agree completely, totally and utterly, that warriors do not need to be tanks.
Since the launch of TBC Blizzard has been bringing classes closer together in terms of DPS and frankly now the gap is so small as to be of little consequence.
A fury warrior in good gear can do awesome dps.
An arms warrior in good gear will do slightly less damage but still good,
while at the same time increasing raid damage output
.
The idea that each class has a spec attached to it went out the window at the lauch of TBC... but there are always some idiots who never accept that they are no longer the big numbers class.

not always true. i'm fury and i don't even respec when i need to tank. i just tel the group to give me a few seconds to gain agro. if i'm in tank gear and still fury spec i'd end up with 512 def rating, 20-24% (dodge, block, parry) and 14k hp. its just if you can find a group with a little patience and letting you get agro before unleashing every known CD they have
nobody said you had to respec to tank aslong as your willing to tank.
I will never take a pug dps warrior ever. This is because iv lost both the sun eater and commendation to fury warriors.
Most of the dps warriors you will find in lfg are complete tards who ww on trash ignore omen or are pvp spec. You want a group as a dps warrior make it youself just dont expect me to tank it for you. Its far easier to take one of the other 2 dozen dps classes i know

Well, i personally, have a feral druid, though i do not want to be a main tank ever, though i am open to offtanking, when its needed, but i prefer a nice kitty dps, its far more fun to me.
