I think they just did that to throw us off. he said it wasn't a way to confirm a new race and then smiled.
This is probably saying him saying that yeah Vulpera may be a race, but in the future, don't take the datamine like everything in it is going to be a race.
He never outright said that they weren't a race. It could be that Vulpera are a race, but not an Allied Race.
People need to remember that not everything is going to be an Allied race, but they could very well be a race. a New Race and a New Allied race are two very different things.

Seems Vulpera will be horde race. Hope, this is a placeholder.
I don't think it is just Horde. It is possibly a neutral race and it could be talking about the Vulpera faction that the Horde will be friend as already confirmed. But the Alliance is also going to Zandalar and they will probably also befriend Vulpera.
I say this because Vulpera were also in the same file as the Dark Irons. So it has the same code as Zandalari, but is the same file as Dark Irons. They tells me Vulpera are neutral.

They said, that NPC gets from now models that works with armors... so not all of this will be playable. However, they decide whats will be or not, based on opinion of community ( I think)... so if we love Vulpera... they probably comes.

If you go the Vulpera female model viewer, and do the flex animation. Her bottom jaw disappears.... Kinda freaky looking.

Why do I keep hearing people suggest neutral allied races? Doesn't that defeat the purpose to split a race up (in the case of Vulpera, likely low population) instead of getting the full force of a group? The next neutral race we get will likely be a regular race, not an allied race.

Am I the only person thinking "Please don't make this a playable race"? There are so many cool races that could be playable in WoW (Naga / Ethereals / Tol'vir / Dragonkin) and they make a fox person? We've done the cute fluffy silly thing with Pandarans. You already have that option to be some "adorable" fluffball. I honestly don't think more of that is what the game needs.

Am I the only person thinking "Please don't make this a playable race"? There are so many cool races that could be playable in WoW (Naga / Ethereals / Tol'vir / Dragonkin) and they make a fox person? We've done the cute fluffy silly thing with Pandarans. You already have that option to be some "adorable" fluffball. I honestly don't think more of that is what the game needs.
Except I never thought pandarens were cute or funny. They're just stupid racist memes that people play ironically. Half of the people I play WoW with own a panda alt that they gave a cheeky, "funny" name, which they then set aside and
never
played it again.
I can at least say the Vulpera look fun to play as, and even a little cool. Even if I never play as one, I can see the greater appeal with these than with those Kung Fu Pandas.
From a practical standpoint, I honestly feel like Blizzard would be foolish
not
to make these playable. To be honest with you, disliking "cute" things still puts you in the minority. "Cute" stuff is incredibly popular with RPG communities, especially fantasy RPGs. Making these guys playable would be extremely profitable for them.

I actually agree with you on this. "Neutral allied race" is an oxymoron. You can't have a race be neutral and join both factions and also be an "allied" race. "Allied" suggests it sides with one or the other. It ALLIES itself with one faction.
They could work their way around it by also splitting up the Vulpera faction. Say, for example, Alliance would get these rebellious pirate-themed ones that hang out in Kul'Tiras, whereas Horde would get the desert people we find in Vol'dun. But that's really stretching it, I think. They might make other races join up with us long before they make a race neutral in this way due to lore-related reasons.
That's my assumption, anyway.

A lot of clues are hinting to them being playable, including all of these customization options for their faces, ears and noses, and the many different fur colors. Seeing them as a race, even when not playable, is already fun to think about, but seeing all these options makes me think that they wouldn't go through so much trouble to make so many options available for a bunch of NPCs.

They copy-pasted the Belf animations onto Velf, and Nelf animations onto Norne. But we still love those races.
