Wowhead AddOns (Client/Looter) Issue? Report here!

Yes, I'm not sure what the limit is exactly but based on other similar upload limits it may be somewhere around 3 MB.
We're going to look into improvements in this area once we have the capability to do so, hopefully in the near future.

lownignitus
I have 6.5 MB worth of data to upload myself, some reason the client hasnt been starting and auto uploading like normal. I would prefer to not delete and start over if possible, but from what I am reading it is not. I am thinking of just waiting for a fix as I have lots of data on artifact hidden skins to upload as well.
Would be nice if this gets resolved in the immediate future.

The size limitation is something we definitely want to resolve. It's not just client data, screenshots and other such things are also an issue... even for staff. We're working on a migration that will eventually allow us more flexibility to adjust the dials allowing for larger uploads, hopefully in the next couple of months.

Guessing I should make a backup of my current files and save them for if a fix is made?

Running into a problem I previously had a while back that was seemingly fixed for a while. Whenever I look through the appearance windows (collections tab and transmog window), it will jump back to page 1 after a few seconds (or, if an item is selected, to whatever page that item is on).

A few days ago I had an issue where my Wowhead Client wouldn't stop "Finalizing" and refused to upload anything. Thanks to a forum search, I was able to fix that.
Now it seems to upload a usual and it's even stated in my profile. However, my Collection tabs simply won't update. Toys, Mounts etc. I collected days ago are still labeled as "Missing".

I have an issue for around a month, every time I try to upload, it gets me "Wowhead is unable to process your upload at this time." error. Upload size was around 1,7M after compression when the problem started, around 2M now.

I'm getting a weird issue with the Wowhead Client where the entire program just runs very very laggy and unresponsive.
I've tried redownloading the exe with no results. All UI actions have a delay of about 3-5 seconds. This includes even clicking the titlebar, hovering over the etc.
Check out this gif for a short preview:
https://puu.sh/whSK5/7bc29c4ba0.gif
There is no significant activity in task manager (eg. no CPU spikes or anything) while this happens, and no other programs are affected.
I'm running Windows 10 creators update (Build 1703), and I dont recall this happening in the previous versions of Windows 10 - though I have taken a break from WoW since then.
I'm more than happy to help with any troubleshooting/debugging steps if you've got any ideas :)

I'm having the same issue.
Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit, release 1607. I've reinstalled the executable a couple times. (Even deleted first just to be sure).
My current zip file is reported to be 2.6MB.
This is what the Log window shows:
Thanks for using the Wowhead Client!
This is version 1.9.12, built on March 29, 2017.
Compatible with Legion.
Upload failed: Server timeout.

Upload Error? Read here!
If you're getting the unable to upload error do the following:
Delete the +Wowhead_Looter.lua (and +Wowhead_Looter.lua.bak) file in your World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/<Account Name>/SavedVariables folder. Then, go relaunch World of Warcraft. Give it a minute, close it and try to upload again.
We're looking to resolve this issue for everyone in the next couple of months. The key for now is uploading frequently and not allowing the file size to grow too large.(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

I am not able to replicate this behavior at all while using the same build of Win10. :( Makes it very difficult to troubleshoot. I don't have any similar reports either to try and find commonality. You've already removed it and redownloaded the zip/exe which is what I'd suggest, perhaps trying to make sure it's always running as administrator? Beyond that, I'm sorry to say, I'm not sure how to further help.

As you can see in the screenshot, the program want to upload 799.9 kb of data, but the size of the file is 2.1 mb, and it goes up every day when i cant upload, as i red further up, it seams the launcher has a max file size it can upload.
Should i delete the data, or is there a fix for this ?

+Wowhead_Looter\Wowhead_Looter.lua:1170: attempt to index local 'texture' (a number value)
This error started popping up for me today while purchasing from the garrison trading post vendor.
Yeah, a ton of GetXXXInfo-type API functions which return texture information are now returning a numerical texture ID instead of its file path. Of course, this didn't get announced ahead of time, or at all, because for the last few years Blizzard doesn't give a $%^& about the UI community and no longer provides any kind of API-related patch notes, like Slouken used to in the good ol' days.
Numerical texture data has
been around for a while
, but how addons are supposed to handle that format keeps changing (e.g., the function referred to in the linked thread is gone). Give the player base a little time to reverse-engineer the changes that Blizzard can't be arsed to tell us about, and addons will be updated.
In the meantime, I've just been nil'ing out the local variable holding the texture value. Subsequent code checks for that and quietly stops trying, which simply means less data gets collected for now, but no errors get printed.

I'm running Windows 10 creators update (Build 1703), and I dont recall this happening in the previous versions of Windows 10 - though I have taken a break from WoW since then.
I'm more than happy to help with any troubleshooting/debugging steps if you've got any ideas :)
I've fixed the problem!
- it was (sort of) an issue with my machine, but you might be interested to know anyway. Bugs that fix themselves are scary, so i thought you might like to know what happened. Running as administrator pointed me in the right direction.
TLDR; there were custom security attributes for my user account on the Root\CIMV2 WMI namespace. I removed these custom attributes and everything was fine.
This is an extreme edge case and a normal user will likely never have this problem.
Full details, for fun:
I opened up Sysinternals Process Monitor and watched the client process - it was repeatedly trying to access some registry key over and over again. After a little googling, this key bought me to a WMI lookup. Bingo... i was playing around with that before on my computer.
A while ago, i was testing a fix for
a Discord bug
. I had modified the security attributes for WMI on my machine. Specifically, I set my own user account to be denied all access to WMI Root\CIMV2. The administrators group was unaffected, and Wowhead Client ran fine as admin. I cleared the custom security attributes and everything was okay again.
I'm assuming that the Wowhead client was trying to detect if WoW was running, but was getting denied every time. If you wanted, you could tweak the code to chill out a bit if it failed to get the info from WMI correctly, though as i mentioned before, this is an extreme edge case, and I cant think of any reason that the average user would have modified these security attributes in the first place.
Recreating the bug:
because all developers like a good test case
Open the WMI Management Console (run wmimgmt.msc)
Right click "
WMI Control (Local)
" in the left tree, and choose "
Properties
"
Go to the
Security
tab
Expand the
Root
namespace, then select
CIMV2
and click the "
Security
" button
Click "
Add
" and enter your user account name and hit
OK
Check every "
Deny
" box for your user, hit
Apply
and hit
Yes
past the warning
The effects are immediate, the Wowhead Client becomes incredibly unresponsive.
To revert
, select your user from the security window, click "Remove", then "Apply". Again, the client becomes fully responsive again instantly.
Anyway, thanks for the quick reply, and for pointing me in the right direction :)

Same question about the error from line 1170. If you folks at Wowhead update the addon, it gets installed automatically, right? Or do I need to keep checking back?
