On a serious note, it's kinda stupid that the most popular race in the entire game is getting the very last model update. /shrug

why the @##$%^&*(*&^%^&*(^% wouldnt you do them first? blood elves are the BEST race, i understand, saving the best for last, but this is UNACCEPTABLE.
Well *best* race is an opinion. Never been a fan myself - I was more butthurt that horde got them than I was over pandas to be honest.
However, personal opinion aside I can see a few reasons for this - (1) the old is model is still newer and better animated than any of the original vanilla models. (2) Seeing as this is pre-game history belf NPC's will probably be a very rare sight.
(3) So freakin many people play blood elfs and there is only so much you can change on their current model without potentially pissing people off.
Other than updated skin and hair textures, I don't see much to be done in the remodeling department other than face and fingers so they are probably working on a long list of small finite details to improve them. But I'm not an artist and haven't played a blood elf since late BC, early WotLK so maybe there is more to be reworked than I realize.
Also we still don't know when release is. Could be in like 2 1/2 months, could be December. Blizz announced the last 2 expansion release a few months ahead.

This is completely unfair. Troll population is the lowest pre-Cataclysm Horde race in both the US and EU. They're fewer than Worgen, and Blood Elves are the biggest Horde population. It's stupid that they prioritize races that few people play, like Dwarves with a population lower than 5%. It's going to be a massive fail if 13% of all characters are stuck with the old model.
Just because you don't personally play that race, doesn't mean it's remodel should be delayed. Plus the old belf model is much better than any of the old vanilla models (from technical standpoint anyway). Plus keep in mind new models will also apply to NPC's and there are a ton more trolls and dwarves about Azeroth than Blood elfs.

As I said earlier, their old model is better than any of the older vanilla models and will not be as prevalent in the NPC department. Plus if I recall correctly, there are more humans than blood elfs. Most popular on horde (why I don't know, they've never really appealed to me) for sure, but not overall.
And even though they are delayed, at least they are spending time and effort into making them look good. If they really wanted to, they could've just left draenei and blood elves remodel late into the expansion or possibly even the one after this. And to top it off we don't know when the xpac release date will be, so maybe it might still make it in or be implemented very early

I hope these awesome new features don't bump the hardware requirements too high. I would hate to have to set the "old models" option in the graphics settings if my laptop is not up to the task.
I also hope the settings can be switched on and off at will (e.g. turn them off during a raid fight, then back on for simple questing)
They said they are doing the best they can to avoid any impact on performance, and said at worst it would be a very small impact.

Be thankful BEs are getting an update at all. They initially weren't going to update BEs nor Draes, just the classic models, since they have been around the longest. It's not "unfair" that the classic races come before the BC races. Just chill out and wait for Blizz to do their thing.

I'd go to Gamescom if it wasn't entirely in German. Been there once, watched a conference of Microsoft. German... Lines were insane and needed ViP access for most of the booths. I hope some day we get a big event in Europe like E3 or Tokyo game show. But just in English, so basically everyone can understand what's what. And of course without the stupid ViP crap.

It makes a certain degree of sense that they focused on the draenei - I mean, for fel's sake, we're going to Draenor. We're not gonna have half the planet dealing with Kael'thas and his goonies settling every which way, and going in five different directions on who to work for because of this, that and whatever. And that's because it was - survey says - named by the
draenei
. (Seeing as the orcs just called their planet "the world", much like we do. Though maybe they adopt the draenic name...or maybe not. Who knows.)
I'm saying this as a guy whose main (judging from the predominance of raid experience, though part of it was earned as a human and briefly as a tauren) is a blood elf paladin: I am not bothered. I would rather have them do it right than do it quick. Wouldn't you?

im curious if the Eye Blinking animation will be revamped as well as these new textures, it would be awesome to have near realistic eye blinks instead of the current ones
They have in beta - it just wouldn't make any sense to do the "floating polygon flickering in front of eyes" blink with this awesome new rig, there's absolutely nothing to worry about.

If I remember something I saw in beta features article they are putting in a new visuals tab just for raid settings. It will allow you to have a seperate visuals profile for when you enter a raid. Pretty handy I'd say.
