As the fabric between realities, the Mists encompass all the worlds. One of these worlds is the realm of Tyria, a vast, diverse planet of untold legends and heroic tales. However, it is a world cursed by cyclical destruction. From their slumber, the Elder Dragons have awoken to ravage the land.
Primordus, first to rise, scoured the land with an army of flame and drove the diminutive, intellectual asura to the surface of Tyria. Jormag followed suit, cracking through the icy mountains, sweeping forth with his icy minions and forced the towering norn to flee south with their Spirits. To the south, Zhaitan awoke, pulling the fallen human nation of Orr from its watery grave alongside a horde of undead legions. In the depths of the ocean, a nameless dragon has created vast horrors from the sea life, causing the aquatic races to flee their homes beneath the waves. Kralkatorrik, the most recent to be awakened, slashed a crystal scar through the eastern deserts and transformed an army of branded to enact his bidding.
The races of Tyria, though wrought with differences, have made alliances to combat the threats of the dragons. Kryta, the last human nation on the continent of Tyria, pledges its blades despite the centaur war at its doorstep. The charr of the Black Citadel have made a shaky truce with the humans, despite the bloody history of their races, to work against the greater evil. The norn, despite the deaths of many of their spiritual guides, stand tall in order to retake their original homeland. The asura, despite their eccentricity, continue to create new and powerful inventions to use in the fight. Lastly, the sylvari, despite their youth in the world, are eager to protect the realm they call home.
Together, they will attempt to bring down the Elder Dragons, or die trying.
And yet, that is not the only tale. While an ultimatum looms in the background, lesser threats will continue to rise. The heroes who will one day bring peace to Tyria will first have to face their own personal struggles, earn their own goals, and achieve victory over those who would try to stop them.
All right everybody, this is a Guild Wars 2 RP (and yes, we do have permission to put non-WoW RPs in the Lore and Roleplaying forum.)
For those of you who are interested, but don't know anything, here's both the wiki and the atlas/map:
Atlas
Wiki
For those of you who are familiar with the setting of Guild Wars 2 and are interested in joining, keep in mind that this RP is going to be set prior to the current canon of the game. As it stands, the RP is set prior to the destruction of Lion's Arch/Mordremoth's awakening and Zhaitan's defeat.
Have fun, everyone! :) (##RESPBREAK##)16##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

The city was massive.
The sylvari had been impressed from a distance, when the enormous walls had not seemed nearly as statuesque and the spires that rose above their confines appeared more like twigs protruding from the earth towards a windless sky. Up close, his breath had been stolen right out of him. The highest point of the Grove was the Pale Tree, yet everything in this city seemed to peak above where her tallest boughs would reside.
Where he was used to grass beneath his feet, an endless floor of stone stretched in every direction. To the east and west, he could see the roofs of buildings built upon a ground far lower than where he stood, and the endless structures constructed upon the very walls of the city. Before him, a path led downward, above it stretching a number of bridges connecting the two roads that instead led even higher.
Strings of pennants ran like vines, connecting the buildings that ran up along the road. Despite the stone and dead wood, there were still traces of home. Trees waved beneath colorful banners, both stirred by the gentle winds that blew through the streets. Lively bushes and flowers grew along the sides of the roads, while tangles of ivy and blossoming buds knotted and hung against the sides of buildings.
In the distance, he could barely make out the smooth, white form of a tall woman, guarded by a wing upon the left of her back. He considered, for a moment, what the statue may represent before he was nearly ran over by a miniature human.
The sylvari stumbled back, quickly correcting himself as he caught his footing by leaning against the rough wooden haft of his staff. Not a miniature human, but a human child. The city was known as Divinity's Reach, a name he remembered quite vividly from his Dream.
He looked around nervously, assailed by the thousands of sounds that suddenly broke through his tranquil contemplation of his surroundings. The sylvari hurried, his armor of washed out blue chain mail and scale clanking and clicking together as he moved, along the upward paths. He carried his staff in one hand, and with the other steadied the pommel of the narrow sword sheathed at his waist.
The wind stirred the azure leaves that swept back from his scalp, tied back into a small tail behind his head. His eyes, a pale blue in sharp contrast to the chalky grey of his leaf-twined bark, tried to take in the sights surrounding him all at once. After some time he slowed his pace, keeping his eyes fixed on the great statue of the winged woman, which had grown larger as he approached its base.

Jadyr Sterkke
Divinity's Reach
The Norn stepped carefully, her footsteps light as she brushed through crowds. Her figure was large, imposing to many of the humans, who gave her a wide breath.
Black and red leather covered her form, allowing her a large freedom of movement. A simple bow was held against her back, a quiver hanging from her waist. As she turned corners, some people reacted in surprise, not expecting a woman so large to move as nimbly as Jadyr did.
A great hunt. That was why she had come to human lands. What she hunted, she didn't know. But she knew her homelands could not offer her the target she sought. She sought something smarter than the wild beasts, something more challenging.

The human walked carelessly, her footsteps heavy onto the coblestone as she brushed through crowds. Her figure was average for a human girl. Making her meld into the crowd with a somewhat ease. Chain mail of bronze covered her form, Giving her the protection she needs. And a simple two handed bronze sword was held onto her back.
She had brown hair, that could have used a haircut a while ago, tied into a ponytail to deal with it. And eyes as blue as the sea. Her skin covered in dirt. and carried a basic tan from exposure to the sun.
As the native walked the streets she bumped into a Norn and fell to her ground.
"Owie." The human muttered as she subbed her rear.

Mayfair

Divinity's Reach, Salma District
Within the wheel that was the city, in the small section known as Salma, a man climbed upon the rim of a fountain. He was young and seemed to shine in his glittering but sleeveless violet robes, opened at the front revealing flaring pants and sleeves. He had a boyish face, fair and slight like a Sylvari's. The air seemed to glitter around him like diamonds as he threw his arms out, robes billowing and revealing a pair of pistols holstered at his sides.
"Ladies and Gentlemen of our fine city!" he cried out, turning some heads. He beamed, silvery hair flicking around his head. "Welcome one and all! Who, I ask, among you on this fine day, would like to be entertained? Entranced? Marvel!
"Well," he shrugged, still smiling, "Mind if I try, anyway?"
With flicks of his wrists he swirled rings of violet light from his hands. Tossing them forth he sent them spinning through the air, one after another, a half dozen brilliant rings sent whirling and dancing above the head of the crowds. He gestured, and they rose to fly overhead, sending beams of distorted rays down to the curious faces watching them fly.
Still smiling, his hands suddenly darted to his holsters and pulled free both pistols. Flourishing the weapons, he aimed them high to the rings far above. The pistols cracked sending forth spears of blazing violet light. Each shot found its mark, shattering the rings and sending a rain of glittering shards down to the crowd below.

A number of humans carelessly brushed past the sylvari. They weren't running, persay, but they certainly were moving much faster than a leisurely pace down the road. Curiously, he turned towards where they had come from and started off in that direction. And almost immediately backpedaled at the sight of the massive, amazonian woman standing in the road, the surrounding citizens of the Reach giving her a wide berth.
The sylvari opened his mouth, though failed to make any sound with it. The norn always terrified him. He'd only seen a handful of them, but they made him feel insignificant, like an seed resting next to the plant it fell from.
It took him a few moments longer to notice someone had fallen on the road before the norn. He pulled his staff from the road and hurried forward, "Miss? Miss! Are you all right?" the sylvari asked, bending down next to the human.

Mayfair grinned, noting the far more rapt interest of the crowd and their swelling numbers. Without seeming to, he kicked a purple hood a little closer to the crowd, and in the same motion twirled forth several more rings. He scattered them in the sky and raised his pistol high. A sharp eye traced their journey across the blue heavens, and as they all aligned he fired, shattering them all at once.
Murmured gasps resounded form the crowd.

"I'm fine." The human waved her hand to the sylvari with a cheerful smille to reasure said sylvari. "Though my rear ain't." She muttered somberly.
With grunt and groan Valsha steadialy got up on her feet with her own strength. Once up she rubbed her rear once more.

The sylvari stood up, nodding towards both women in turn, though having to crane his neck up to properly address the norn, "Good to hear you're okay, and it's alright, accidents happen!" he said cheerily, and cast a look around. The city seemed to have moved on from the incident, someone stumbling in the streets not a noteworthy enough event to see the aftermath of.
"I should ... probably keep moving," the sylvari then stated, nervously rubbing the back of his head.

Mayfair swept a bow before the crowd. "Thank you! But the best," he cried, hurling his arms into the air, "is yet to come!"
Rings rolled from his fingers and were flicked into the sky. One after the other, three, six, a dozen, and still her threw them forth until the heavens was filled with spinning disks of light like a dome. Mayfair clapped his hands, and it seemed two mirrors formed from the sky and turned upon him. The crowd murmured as two more Mayfairs stepped from the mirrors. They were clearly false, their forms transparent and thin like they were formed of violet glass, but when Mayfair spun they moved with him.
"If one is fine, why not three? And now, if you'll please, let us show you what we can do!"
Then, from their sides, all three drew their pistols. Putting their backs to each other, the three raised their weapons and unleashed a salvo into the sky. Violet flashes seared through the air, shattering discs left and right, showering the crowd below with glimmering shards like a snow storm. Not once did they miss, and when the final blasts of pistols died they were replaced with the thunder of applause and ring of coins into the hood on the ground.

She had simply been wandering, no real direction as it stood. Maybe something like this could peak her interest.

The sylvari seemed startled for a moment, as if he hadn't expected anyone to ask about his journey, "Well, truth to be told, I was merely hoping to find a place to rest for the time being. I've traveled here from Caledon Forest and--"
A deafening sound filled his ears, something that resembled his scattered memories of explosions. The noise brought forth a tidal wave of disjointed imagery, shrapnel and injuries, and it was followed by a chorus of what almost sounded like screaming. The sylvari went rigid, looking around, "By the Tree! What was that? Was that a ... bomb?" the word seemed right, though he wasn't quite sure about it.
There was little time to worry about the details however, as he was hurrying past the norn and the human in the direction of the sound, "Someone might be hurt!" he exclaimed.

Mayfair bowed low, arms wide as though to gather in the applause which thundered around him.
Then, he saw it. His smile cracked like a broken mirror as he found a face amongst the nebulous crowd. He stared into an ivory face broken by a pair of red eyes crying tears of red paint.
Gone in a moment, but the damage was done. It was time to leave. Long past, in fact. Mayfair jumped from the fountain. "Thank you, thank you all," he exclaimed, scooping coin into his hood as quickly as he could.

Kryta, Divinity’s Reach
“Bah, human festival tricks,” a throaty voice spat from near the edge of the crowd. The short yet ferocious Iron Legion engineer had his arms folded and leered with fangs bared in disgust at the gawking crowd. Only moments earlier he had been similarly caught in rapt attention, not unlike the very kind he had proceeded to mock for it.
“Trust an Iron Legionnaire not to understand deception,” the second growled in response, calling the first out on the true reason for his hostile reaction, though the taller Charr had at least the tact to refrain from calling the engineer by his new rank – gladium – and thereby reminding him of the events that had let to its ‘acquisition.’
“Nothing black powder can’t solve,” the first shot back in a low, threatening tone, watching the young man scurry about collecting his earnings with disdain.
“Ask your black powder who scared the cub then,” the second challenged, presumably referring to Mayfair, his daunting orange eyes narrowing with suspicion. The human was moving altogether too fast for his liking, that meant someone or something had startled him…

The sylvari hurried down the curved path that led around the city's center, his mail greaves thudding against the cobblestone road, until he found the open wooden gates to one of the city's districts. His ears were still ringing with the sound of the explosion, but if he wasn't wrong he had heard it come from above the streets of the ...
He took a quick look at the plaque beside the gates. The Salma District! Name in tow, he continued his sprint down the winding roads, hurrying past the humans swiftly making their way to and fro purposefully. Absently, the sylvari noted, though didn't quite register, that everyone seemed far too calm if there actually had been a destructive accident within the city.
Eventually he came to a small, though crowded, plaza where people were beginning to disperse from an area around the fountain, "Hail! Uhm, hello? Has anybody seen something? An explosion perhaps? Is anybody injured?"
The sylvari was given a number odd stares, some shakes of the head, and politely and none-too-politely told to shove off. Awkwardly, he looked around.

Mayfair straightened, clutching the cap of coins in his hands in a makeshift bag. Holding it close, he bowed to the crowd once more. "Thank you, thank you all. You've all been incredible." Still bowing, he retreated into the dispersing crowd, turned and abruptly fled. Yet his glittering robes and hair marked him amongst the drabber attired humans, and more than a few eyes followed him as he broke from the crowd and hastened into the winding streets.

"After him,"
Vyrr commanded, in Charr, the finely-dressed necromancer pursuing Mayfair at a safe distance, upright for the time being.
Volarr grumbled, bounding after his companion on all fours, causing several of the nearest members of the crowd to spring back in surprise.

The sylvari spotted a form running through the crowd, nearly as luminescent as the sylvari's own skin under darkness, and then noticed the hulking, feline figures following after the silver haired human.
He tapped the butt of his staff against the road with a grimace, thinking. Charr!
The sylvari, with numerous apologies, struggled his way through the human crowd going in the opposite direction to follow on the heels of the charr as they chased after the glittery human.
