Somewhat related, 7 years ago I destroyed my knee playing cricket, and was told that I would never play again.
2 surgeries, 18 months of physio and rehab later, and I last season completed my 5th season of cricket since the last reconstruction.
Telling me never again is just motivating me to prove you wrong I guess...lol

DnD... and maybe magic, I can't thought because I have no one to play with.
Funny you say this. 2 hours away, the city there has a huge Magic gathering every year. There's a billboard along the highway supporting it. It's still quite a big deal in these necks of the woods.
Playing other games than wow.
I'd have to agree. People will talk about this game or that game, and I oftentimes feel left out. I always come back to WoW, even if I've started playing another.

QOTD 17/07/2013: I was recently entrusted with some old (1950s) recipes learned from others, and written out by hand by both of my late grandmothers. They are now copied into my personal recipe book, and saved for posterity. This Christmas, we will make both versions of my sides Christmas cake, and test Gran Betty's pudding against Lily Keane's (my wife's late mother's) pudding. Partly for fun, partly to learn. It'll all get eaten whatever :)
What skills/traditions/secrets unique to your family do you have, or would love to learn, that you'd like to save for future generations in your family, even if they aren't your own kids?

Missed a bit, looking after family. Hope all understand. Speaking of family, what do you think the future king of Great Britain should be named? My vote is Arthur (once and future king), closely followed by Joffery. Thoughts? Yours, a republican (edit: I'm against monarchy in principle, not a supporter of a US party), who wishes the child a long and happy life.

I read this morning that the Royal baby will be named "in due course".
My first thought was that's a pretty stupid name... :P

while i share a little depth of ur sarcasm, i find it quite to be marveling and ravishing name to be etiquettely honest. the lack of depth and sophistication within that name is simply brilliance. just pure brilliant.

My matriarchal line (i.e., stuff going back to my mom's mom's mom at least) has a thing for playing Bridge and keeping cockatiels as pets. I'd like to continue the tradition, but cockatiels are horrible pets and I can't get the hang of Bridge.

Deposed.

My wife and I have just decided to sponsor a child, somewhere in the developing world. 5 euro a week. We don't, and are unlikely to have kids ourselves, due to age. Would you ever consider doing this if you had the money? We're doing it as "parenting in absentia" I suppose, and a desire to help communities that are WAY poorer than us. Would you? If not, why not?

I would probably adopt a child instead of spending 5 euros a week.
With American, well for charities, 70% of the money is used for advertising, 20% used for paychecks, and usually the other 10% goes to shipping and to the child.
But as long as the child has something rather than nothing, that's good enough. If you do have more money to spare, I'd reccomend you sponsor more kids. Every cent matters.
I support what you are doing.
But if you want to take it a step further.
You would do a lot more if you adopted a child, raised it as ur own kid, and instill some of ur good values to that child.

If there is anything we can look up to for inspiration or towards the future. It would be the children. They are honest, pure, happy, playful, and represent the truest human expression. They are the king, and we are the pawns. And I gladly accept that wholeheartedly.
