"I assure you, miss, we're not here to make any assumptions about your security system," Ahriman said patiently. "I personally am just going to deliver this warning about the complete one hundred percent certainty of danger. Not up to us advising you how to handle it best."

"Hundreds, for sure. But most of them stay in the villages around here. We've had reports of larger towns up north...wouldn't want to be the first to go there."
A loud screech was heard echoing over the hills and a moment later Vanessa's dragonhawk re-emerged far into the distance.
"Boss," the deathstalker with the crossbow began.
"Yes?"
"Looks like trouble."

"No rest for the living dead it seems." Falionna said pulling her bow from her back and loaded it with an arrow on it's string. "Now where is my target practise?"

"As my companion stated, we do not wish to discuss that," Marcus said with a nod. "However, these cultists are shown to have connections. Connections far greater than one of their station should have. Consider that we also have a battle raging just outside the gates. All I suggest is that you keep an extra eye on your equipment until you trust those handling it with one hundred percent certainty."

Vanessa Bloodwatch, Deathstalkers
Howling Fjord
A deafening roar and three seconds later the answer to that question was all but obvious: A proto-drake and its rider was engaged in a wild pursuit of the dragonhawk and his mistress. The difference in size was striking from a distance; to the deathstalkers it almost looked like a strange hawk chasing a sparrow.
The misshapen beast flapped its leathery wings furiously to gain altitude, but the nimble bird-like creature before it climbed much more efficiently until the dragon opened its maw and launched a stream of flames, roaring out with great speed and forcing Vanessa into a dive.
Now the more massive proto-drake was at a distinct advantage. It too went into a dive, and it with its greater mass cleaved through the air, trading altitude for speed and gaining quickly on its prey. Vanessa pulled out of the dive just in time to avoid being engulfed in another torrent of fire, and the skilled dragonrider followed with ease. The two flying creatures now headed straight for the deathstalkers and Falionna.
"Spread out!" called Aaron, and his companions were not uneager to comply. "Make it count," he added to Falionna before diving headlong into a ditch on the roadside.

Richard lowered his rifle and began to climb down the wall when he saw Sparkbolt make it back into the fort.
"That should slow them down for a while." Sparkbolt said taking out a rag from his pocket and wiping the sweat from his face from running.
"Until more of those beetles show up." Richard replied as he looked out the gate. "What the fel were those things?" He asked.
"No clue. I just hope we don't meet more of those things anytime soon." The gnome said. "What are those?" He asked as the two made there way back to the inn stopping at the training rings and looked at the weapons.
"Some new magic weapon by the looks of it. Don't know how good they'll actually be." Richard said stopping beside Loki and looked at the weapons.

"Thank you for taking this seriously, miss Liorahven," Ahriman said with a curt bow of his head.
"I would also thank you for your time, but we are not done just yet, for I wish to propose a deal," he added, slowly and deliberately reaching for his sword, making no sudden moves. The warrior unsheathed his weapon and held it horizontally on chest level on front of himself.
The ornamented hilt had a noticeable curve to it, and instead of a proper cross-guard it bore two short prongs sticking out at approximately 45 degrees; between the prongs, a purple crystal rested. In contrast, the slim blade, which was more than fifty inches long, was straight and double-edged. A groove no more than an inch wide ran from the hilt halfway along the blade; into it several runes were cut.
"In exchange for you letting us get a closer look at your weapons, all the while remaining supervised and in your presence, if you so prefer..." Ahriman spoke, pressing a button on the hilt with his thumb. The weapon began emitting a steady hum as a halo of purple energy crawled from the hilt towards the point, engulfing the glade. The runes lit up with the same light, matching now the crystal embedded into the hilt in color.
"...I shall tell you how to produce swords like this. In large numbers. Interested?"

Falionna jumped and slided after landing on the grassy ground to a roadside tree witch she took cover behind. From the protection of the tree the Dark Ranger begain to aim at the crimson proto-drake.
"Aim for the winged beast, aim for it's eyes or mouth!" She shouted to the deathstalker with the crossbow before she herself fired her arrow aiming the savage creature's mouth.

The crossbowman already knew exactly where to aim, and so he did. With a loud
twanggg
the short, thick bolt accelerated to enormous speed, overtaking the ranger's arrow and embedding itself into the monster's enormous wing. Falionna's arrow hit the rider, who let out a howl of anger.
"Don't shoot if you risk hitting the elf!" Aaron ordered both the archers at the top of his rotten lungs. "Aye!" came the short but sufficient reply.
In mere seconds, Vanessa zipped over the group of six at astonishing speed. The proto-drake soon followed, passing over with the noise level of a stampeding elekk. Vanessa looked back, relieved that the vrykul was focused enough on the pursuit that he didn't bother strafing the people on the ground.

((You can take some initiative too morginar, you know that? Make up terrain features and stuff, or 'discover' new enemies even. Imagination while keeping it reasonable is the key!))
Vanessa Bloodwatch, Deathstalkers
Howling Fjord
Must turn before I get too close to Fort Wilderwar,
Vanessa thought to herself while surveying the terrain below and ahead. Manoeuvring would only keep her alive, not help her escape the situation. She made a sharp turn which took her pursuer seemingly by surprise, because he failed to follow on his less nimble proto-drake and instead broke off in the other direction and began to climb again.
Vanessa bolted back towards Utgarde Keep, making another pass over her companions. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw the winged monster and his diver entering another dive, heading straight down towards them.
"Here it comes!" she heard vaguely from behind as the forsaken there began to spread out further once they realized
they
were now under direct attack.

"Worth a shot," Ahriman shrugged, deactivating and sheathing the sword. He stood in silence for a couple seconds, his head turned somewhere in Jack's direction - of course, thanks to the mask it was not possible to tell just what he was looking at. After that he nudged Marcus with an elbow, "So, docks now?"

Falionna ran to the side and prepared to aim with her bow only to notice massive shakings in the very earth itself, turing around she noticed a massive stone giant with a tree in it's back and roots over it's body.
The dark ranger ran to hide at a mossy stone and hoped that the giant would just walk by but the giant did not, it simply continiued to walk direcly to the deathstalkers and the dark ranger and the vyrkul.
Behind the rock the undead elf fierd a trio of arrows infused with the power of the dark arts, making them glow purple and left a short trail of magic in the air as it passed.

"Well that went well." Sparkbolt said as the trio walked up to the two.
"If you wanted a new gun you could of asked me instead of that lot." Richard said to Marcus. "I can make a bullet that makes that stuff look like parlor tricks." He added.

"It's not the bullet, but the faith that destroys my foes," Marcus said with a shrug. "I'm mostly just concerned about the weapons falling into the hands of the Scourge. Those would be devastating if used against our own soldiers."
To Ahriman, he shrugged. "Soon. There was one other thing I wanted to do first."

"Okay then," Ahriman nodded.
"And Rich, we all here know how amazing your guns are. Those?" the masked warrior jabbed his thumb over his shoulder at the crates as they were picked up. "They're not special snowflakes. They're not unique works of art, each having a history of talent and inspiration and so on. But there's gonna be a freaking lot of them."

"Oh yes, another ^&*!storm coming this way!" the crossbowman announced, spotting the stone giant. The three arrows whizzed through the air and remarkably enough penetrated the mineral skin of the giant, driving it into a maddened charge forward. It fortunately seemed unaware of just exactly where the arrows had come from, and simply thundered forward in an attempt to discover its attacker.
Meanwhile the proto-drake and its rider knew exactly where Falionna was. From the air the dark ranger was completely exposed, and the vrykul had his sights on her. With a fearsome cry he made the drake spit a fireball just before he broke the dive and resumed pursuit of Vanessa.
She, on her hand, had taken the moment of personal respite to circle around and double back, coming in fast from behind the stone giant.

"I agree with you on that. They aren't anything special." Sparkbolt said looking back at the crates.
"They may look useful but as soon as they go up against a mage they could easily rip apart those bullets or just throw the magic back at them. And I doubt they would be effective against a dragon unless you were lucky enough to hit one in the eye or mouth." Richard said.
"And in order to pull of a shot like that you would have to stand in front of said dragon and there's nothing smart about that decision." Loki added.
