Gearing a lvl 90 Shadow Pteist for PvP
Return to board index
I've recently begun to enjoy my PvP experience much more than I use to. I know by doing B.G.'s I can get item sets, but I'd really like to take it to the next level ( if you get my meaning ) and I was wondering if I can run a certain dungeon to get a better item set than what the vendors offer?
Then onto the second phase and acquiring the items a set doesn't include, wrist, waist, feet, back, neck, rings, trinkets, Held in Off-Hand and weapon.
Is it better to do the dungeons and gear that way or run B.G.'s, or go for conquest points? Should I mix it up and do some of all?
I'm a Shadow Preist. All the advice I can get right now would really take a lot of the guess work out of this and I can apply myself to doing what I have to rather than running around willy- nilly.
Thank you for your upcoming advice and have a great day.
Get PVP gear as much as you can. You need resilience to survive, and PVP power is way too good - PVE items just have none of it and for the most part cannot compete unless they are 25+ ilvls higher. Now that 5.2 is coming out, epic (476 the last I read, but I found 483 also) gear is going to be available for honor, and getting as much as you can for conquest points is a logical way to go.
A PVP weapon is also a must - the amount of PVP power on it is enormous. The one-hand weapons should get a nerf with 5.2 spilling their powers over to the off-hand, but staves and other 2H remain the same. Upgrading weapons before patch would also be advisable (if anyone is thinking what to do with conquest points before they're converted to honor - upgrading will be removed with the patch). If not, weapons will be available for honor after the patch without any restrictions, so get one asap.
On a side note, as of MoP, PVP gear is very much usable for PVE, having the exact same amount of primary stats as their PVE counterparts of the same ilvl (Conquest Points gear vs. LFR drops comparison). Secondary stats (mastery, crit, haste) vary as much as they vary between different PVE pieces - so feel free to pick a PVP item over PVE item of comparable lvl for PVE gearing, depending on the stats you need - useful for Shadows in need of reaching soft haste cap of 25%, since the PVP gear has more haste than many a PVE piece.
Spriest have been struggling for along time now in both Pvp/PvE environments. I hope there will be some serious changes come next expansion.
I doubt it. Spriest seems to be the last thing blizz will look at and will say something like: hey guys, lets nerf this spell or talent too, cant have shadow priest do good in arena's can we ? and lets buff the other classes even more.
