Gearing for a raid guild

Prior to Mists, in order to gear for raiding, all I had to do was run heroics for gear (which lead to rep gain, which also lead to gear) and a couple of dailies and craft some epics.
But now in Mists, it seems like running heroics just isn't enough anymore. I have all the heroic gear I can get, but the guilds on my server still want that higher i-level (doesn't seem to be about skill/experience any more =/).
Instead of heroics -> raid guild! It seems to be heroics -> LFR (Which I hate, a bunch of people randomly thrown together to roll their face around on a keyboard for 20 minutes and get some loot. There's no challenge and there's no community feeling that you get when you're in a guild.) -> zomgraidguildfinally!1!|:)
And it's no longer a couple of dailies, it's a crapload of dailies. And the dailies seem to give hardly any rep. Maybe it's just me but Blizzard seems to have nerfed the amount of rep you get from daily quests. I'd have to do them for a couple of weeks it seems to get honoured/revered and finally buy those epics.
And yes, I still crafted my epics. Because I understand that you have to do some work yourself to get to the fun parts of WoW. However the amount of work I need to do just to get into a raiding guild seems to have increased drastically and I feel like I'm just going to get burned out and stop playing before I can even make it into a guild.
And I'm looking for help to avoid that. Please help.
(As to why I don't just quit playing, my boyfriend likes it when we play together and I like making him happy)

Unfortunatly it seems like your kind of stuck. You really only have a few options to get the gear that your looking for. Either you can buy some of the craftable 476 items on the AH that are for your class and hopefully get enough to squeek by. You can run those dailies and get your vp to get your gear that way. Or you run your LFR and hopefully get lucky and grab some that way. There is a silver lining though. If you can do all three for a couple of weeks you'll most likely come away happy. You'll have 2000VP by the end thats enough for at least one 489. Most likely you get a couple of pieces from the LFR with elder charms in the mix and you will have bought at least one piece for yourself. Thats 4 pieces of gear in the two weeks. Who knows you could get lucky like a buddy of mine and pop a piece of gear on every boss for 2 LFR's straight and gear up all the way. There was a lot of name calling on my part that night lol. The point is be patient and know that the gear will show up if you play.

I suppose you're right. It doesn't help that I'm on an overpopulated server where there is an abundance of geared people. Whereas on one server, guilds would be delighted to have someone with the gear I have already, I'm hardly even looked at on this server. Come on free server transfer.

in my experience guilds that only ask for ilvl and not or little for experience (or that you show you put in effort to preform well even though you lack experience) arent that great, most of those are quite terrible.
sadly most good guilds that look past your ilvl arent recruiting cause they're already full and you need to get lucky too join in one.
