First of all, grinding dungeon after dungeon for 5 levels sounds incredibly dull, even though you get an instant queue.
Second, I don't even think it's faster. I think you only get 200-300K XP as a reward for completing the random. That is the equivalent of 2-3 quests. You could complete a larger string of streamlined quests in the time it would take you to finish a LFD. More quests rewards and gold, too.

He said as a tank, which means instant queues usually, so it actually is a case of choosing one or the other.

I'm a tank as well, and found combining the two were definitely the fastest. Of course I would swap between specs when questing and when not. Honestly grinding dungeons on end gets mindnumbing, especially when you only get certain instances unlocked at certain levels.

This +1. Dungeon grinding only works at the low end of the required level. After you do the dungeon quests, it slows down considerably.

If you have a group to run with, such that you can have massive DPS and heals, and a tough-as-nails tank, then dungeons would probably be faster. But if you're just one guy, I would say questing is significantly faster. In fact, the main reason I would decide to dungeon for a level would be that questing would level me too fast and unlock new zones before I'm even half done with the current one.

To be honest. Its a forum. People tend to open posts more often than re-read the old ones in the back. Its how it works and im one of them ;) And on a sidenote:
