What I find most annoying about this "extended maintenance" is the fact that if you look at the realm status on WoWs page, everything is saying "up"

Well technically they are up when it says so, it's the authentication server that's not letting us get to them.
Why the authentication server never had a public status of its own tho is beyond me.

I like how they write 11:00 all day, then change it to 13:00 right before theyre supposed to open up. Good troll Blizzard.

Actually most of the time they put up a warning the day before, stating when the servers will go down and come back up. Usually they stick with that... not this time.

Yet....the US realms had an extended maintenance yesterday, so the chance for EU to have one should have been in the minds of all of the player base.

First of all I don't have any reason to follow the US maintenance's duration. Second, if its such a given why wouldnt Blizzard go out and say so themselves? They put 11:00 as the time, so ofcourse people are gonna expect that.

......You are posting in a thread that was about the extended maintenance on the US servers yesterday; whether you 'follow it' or not, you knew it happened. As for the time: It's fluid, I've seen maintenance days where they said it was just going to be a 15 minute roll back and it turned into an all day thing. This isn't new, and pretty much all WoW players should be used to the fact that maintenance days are only the same in that the time can change at any point.

the reason why EU wouldnt expect a extended maintance is cause often when the US has one, they figure it all out and are able too deploy that on EU right away causing our maintance to not be extended often.
ofcourse this not always the case, but more often then not it is. (hence my guinea pig comment earlier)
and just because we know we can expect a longer maintance it doesnt take away our right too complain about it like US did.
after all we're WoW players, our favorite thing to do is complaining!

Not sure how I could have known something yesterday that I only just read today.
And I disagree that it's always been like this, for the most part I've been able to count on the maintenance times. Yes there have been times when they screwed up, and it happens, but that doesn't mean people aren't gonna complain about it.
