Do rare-quality Ruby Saplings exist? I've never caught this many uncommons without capturing a rare before and I'd like to know that I'm not wasting my time :(

There will be Upgrade stones for Battle Pets once that excellent 5.1 patch hits, so basically whatever quality you capture you will have ability to upgrade thru the implementation of these new stones.
I am terrible at computer technology with somehow making a link, so forgive my caveman copy/paste technique that I just did below.
The info is from the Patch 5.1 PTR Patch Notes – October 18 and was as follows regarding the Stones:
Pet Battles - A new item has been introduced that can be used to upgrade the quality of Battle Pets: Battle-stones.
Battle-stones are available in two basic types, general purpose Battle-stones that can be used to upgrade the quality of any pet, and family specific Battle-stones, which can only be used to upgrade pets of a specific pet family.
Battle-stones are available in two qualities: Flawless Battle-stones can upgrade pets directly to Rare quality, while Polished Battle-stones will upgrade a pet to Uncommon quality.
Players will have a very small chance to obtain a general purpose and family specific Flawless Battle-stone after winning a match against wild pets; defeating higher level opponents increases the chances of obtaining a stone.
Family specific Flawless-Battlestones will be of the same family as the pets that were defeated.
These valuable items are not soulbound, and can be sold on the Auction House.
Family specific Flawless Battle-stones can be found in the Sack of Pet Supplies obtained from performing Pet Trainer quests, and are Bind on Pickup.
General purpose Polished Battle-stones can be purchased for 1000 Justice Points.
The implementation of these upgrade stones is a great idea by Blizz, I'm sure a portion of their reasoning to have this addition to the game is so there will "HOPEFULLY" be less players inclined to slay mobs of spawned battle pets searching for a rare quality and allow others the same luck that they had in finding whatever pet it may be, ESPECIALLY frustrating on those that are uber-hard to find.

I have to say, this "battle stone" concept completely sucks stones. Having a rare Robo-Chick should MEAN something. I should be able to pull out my rare Robo-Chick and hear everybody's jaws drop because they'll know that I spent 10 hours grinding them in Winterspring instead of buying some crap on the auction house that I got for cheap because somebody had more Justice Points than they knew what do do with.
A better idea would have been to make ALL pets capturable, not just 1/10th of them.

My first battle with one in Orgrimmar, just a few hours after launch, got me a rare.
Rares really aren't all that special right now. (Except for pets that just suck to catch to begin with, like the Minfernal.)
Pet Battle Stones are really only a good thing, imo.

There are no Robo-Chicks in Orgrimmar. Not even rare ones :\
I mean, if someone pulls out a rare Rabbit or Squirrel or some other critter that's in every single effing zone, then yeah, that doesn't mean anything. I could have gotten THREE of each of those a few hours after launch. But Robo-Chicks? No, those are SPECIAL. Those are among the creatures where rares truly are rare.
