ArkInventory: how do you have it configured?
Return to board index
Among all the addons I use, if I had to keep only one, Arkinv will it be. I still can't understand how people can manage equipment, offspec equipment, consumables, tools, etc without a bags addon.
Now, the way I have it configured: One bar (virtual bag) for (almost) each of the in-game items categories, that is, consumables, prof: alchemy, prof: herbalist, plants, metals, elemental, etc.,
main and of spec equipments (in some chars, up to 4)
one more bar for each trasmog set, some are old tiers, some are same-named armor, and some others a few pieces that "look good together.
So, I have 9 chars, that have at least 2-3 such sets, but my main, that has a crapaton of them (can't look now, let's say 10). I've been collecting !@#$ since the dawn of time, before it was co... before trasmog was implemented.
The way I have this sorted out is using Outfitter sets (for example, one for T1, other for SW guard, other for Naxx plate...) and a
in ArkInv that uses the "outfit(XXXX)" rule.
All the chars share same profile (simplifies maintenance), so, for each, I have around 60 (yeah, I know) bars with items (or not, for there are rules for the pala equip that the mage can't use).
And the problem is that sometimes it's slow, and I have to force a Config->Refresh for seeing things right in the bank (minor problem, will live with it... but...).
I have a bank full of @#$% from all ages and sizes, so my bags are slow. How do you manage lots of sets/tiers it in ArkInv? Would you recommend another addon?
i'm with you. if i had to give up all my addons this would be the one i keep.
my system is pretty simple, and i'm using about 15 bars for items, and a half-dozen custom rules, with a bar 0 being the default. mine are grouped up on how i'd use the item.
1: collectible items (for quests, where you collect and stack # of an item)
2: quest items
3: soulbound equipment
4: tradeskill items
5: consumables- other
6: consumables- potions, elixirs, scrolls, etc.
7: skill items- skinning knife, gnomish army knife, jeweler's kit, etc.
8: recipes (for finding them easy when i buy/loot them)
9: miscellaneous item (custom rule)
10: equipment set items (custom rule). i use this to hold items in an equipment set that aren't being worn. to distinguish them from #3 (which could be gear i just looted, etc).
11: "fun" items, another custom rule. i flag things like holiday items, like preserved holly, for this slot
12: trinkets (when i used to do a lot of trinket swapping, not so common any more)
13: sell me/junk. items i explicitly save and flag to be sold at a vendor
14: class items. used to be for things like reagents, soul shards, ankh's, etc. i guess pointless now.
the custom slots are good, but don't be afraid to use custom rules and to flag items. 60 bars is a bit much. you don't need a slot for each tradeskill, just lump it all together and you'll always find the items in the same location on every toon.
i use the same rule set and slots for my banks as well.
Hmm... merging all the tradeskills in the same bar is a good idea... Didn't thought about it.
I think I will try to change the outfit("xxxx") rules for custom categories, to see if it speeds up things a bit.
Thanks for your response, scottjl
Re: other addons, you should take a look at
. Not as configurable as Ark, but it just feels like it does the Right Thing out of the box. Also way less buggy as a result.
I really like the way Combuctor works. It also fits very well to the default WoW UI, if that's something you appreciate.
Finally, I've changed the
rules for custom categories, for the item sets, and seems to work great. This way works fast. I've just kept a rule for weapons and shields, and
rules for "in-use" equipments, that is, current pandaland items.
