To clarify the event is a scenario that is tuned for level 85 players and after Mists officially launches will be retuned for level 90 players so it will not have a definitive end date like previous events. Completing it at the 85 level nets a Feat of Strength achievement and a faction specific goodie that will not be rewarded from the level 90 version.

September 19th to September 25th. (Not everyone plays on US servers, now do we?)

Then...what is the point of it being a event if it is just basically a 'sneak peek' of what we will be doing in MoP? A feat of Strength doesn't justify this...
Also, the fact that it is phased takes away the 'event' feeling.
Because eventually Dustwallow will be phased to show the after affects of the destruction.

Whenever I read a date on any website I automatically assume "The week of Xth of Y". Anyway - smallest problem ever :D

I have been complaining about this to some guildies too.
Pre-wrath event had area's being attacked by undead, zombies in the cities and a limited time raid boss.
Pre-cata event had area's being attacked by elementals (possibly, I can't remember), elementals in the cities, four limited time dungeon bosses, and an event to save echo isles or gnomer.
This event has a scenario that will be playable at 90.

Can't wait for this event :D.

It's not just a sneak peak but more of a lead into the story of MoP.
It's purpose is to show the development of the war between Alliance and Horde. The phasing, is more for the players that go through the event. If I saw Theramore destroyed, why can I visit it and it's still fine... it wouldn't make any sense.
Those that don't participate in the event will still see the old Theramore, until they permanently change it to after it was attacked.
I won't speak for everyone else, but as I said, I can't wait for the event. It almost reminds me of the DK starter area, where you are present in the lore of whats happening. You aren't changing the pre-determined outcome, but you are personally involved, to help bring a more in depth feeling to the story.
With Theramore it will be like, "I was there helping to defend that city. We fought bravely, but could not stop the Hordes advances over the city."

Heh of course, all of the DK starting area takes place in a six month period before the start of Wrath, which is why you fight at the old Light's Hope rather then the new fortress version.
