From the encounter tab
Here
.
■Embedded Blade – Players may pick up Captain Varo'then's magical elven blade and throw it towards Mannoroth. The blade embeds itself into Mannoroth's demonic armor. The magical blade then causes strikes against Mannoroth to have a chance to create a Magistrike Arc inflicting 1000000 Fire damage to Mannoroth.
So every time you deal damage to mannoroth after varo'then is down, you have a chance of doing 1m dmg.

thank you for the info, is it your opinion that the high final boss fight damage drags up my overall damage?
Thanks,
Lumen
That is how a total works, yes.

It's mainly because Well is an AoE fest and a buff fest to the extreme. When you are following along Illidan and stealthed, there is a stacking buff that you receive. When you finish off Queen Azshara's fight and head down to meet Tyrande, Malfurion and Ilidan again, you get a Blessing buff from Tyrande that ramps up your damage to fight all those Doomguards. The same buff shows up again when she is attacked by Dreadlords during the Varo'then's fight. As Varo and Mannoroth are one fight, that buff is counted in as well. And of course, when you go demon in the last portion of the Mannoroth fight, your damage goes up another cycle.

No idea what dps meter you are using, but Recount has an option to see damage dealt by spells. If you see a spell you know you don't have (Magistrike arc) with 85% overall damage, or 100% crit onyour own spell (Illidan's buff in fights up to and including first boss), it's likely that something else is helping you.
