Ok I want to roll a warlock and I am now level 15. I choose Demology and a few in the guild said it is a pain to learn and the DPS sucks. I plan to only PVE so questing will be what I do 99% of the time. Any thoughts on this please. Just need advice please dont get rude when you reply. I ask for help so I will learn and be able to maybe help i return one day.

Honestly, level how you want, who cares what others tell you.
I love Demonology, and I have since the changes first appeared on Beta.

If u plan on questing then Afflic is awsome. You can simply dot up alot of mobs and just run around. That keeps u active the entire time and gives u more xp per hour in my opinion. But like Adamsm said. Play what u enjoy the most cause thats what this game is all about :) Demo has more nostalgic feeling about it. Afflic is ... Its just fun with the dots :P And destro is more pew pew "mage" style :)
About what ur guild said: The dps doesnt suck if you know what you`re doing. But yeah, it can be harder to learn. But thats also one thing I think you should consider. The harder the more fun it is ;) If you need help on rotations and stuff on Afflic then I can help you later if u need ;)

People aren't rude unless you post a question wanting us to fix you without you putting in the work. Were not magicians and can't fix lazy people. You seem willing to put in the work, so don't expect anyone to flame you. Our lock forum loves to help people willing to help themselves.
With that out of the way, the 2 replies are both right. First, always play what you like. Affliction is great leveling, but Demo is more then viable. You will love it.
Now end game, Demo is a little more complicated then the rest. But if you want an easy, boring spec, then you will get bored and end up rolling something else. Play a class that's deep and that always has you learning. With the recent changes every shlub wants to jump on the bandwagon and be a cool purple demon. Don't be one of those. Warlocks are a deep and mathy class. If you put in time, you will love your lock. This I promise you.
Now for performance. All 3 specs perform well. None will make you look bad. Demo performs great. It is still an aoe monster too. We have no way to tell how good or bad we will be come Mists. We can only speculate. But if there's one thing I learned about locks, if we are not performing great, we will find a way. This has never failed me.
Welcome to the dark side. Enjoy your demon and come back with anymore questions you might have.

Demo has some very very good potential at the moment. Keep at it and, like the others said, all three specs, played properly can yield similar dps. (lower levels may not be quite true as balance issues at low levels are not really a top priority, so keep that in mind) So play what you like, really, give each spec a try, level for one for like 5 levels each to get a good feel about each one.

all three specs, played properly can yield similar dps.Well, from what the players are saying, at end game, Afflict is just destroying the other two specs when it comes to DPS in Dragon Soul; but for leveling that doesn't matter as much, so play as you like.

Whoever the "others" are just don't have the other specs down yet. Affliction is VERY similar to how it always was. So people are playing it better cuz there isn't much of a learning curve. Since the other 2 specs are so different, the curve is bigger, hence lower numbers. All played with equal skill, they are very, very close. The only fight in which Affliction destroys the other specs is Madness, due to the spellweave procs from our dots.

Off of wowinsider earlier this week.
I also saw that during Beta towards the end, that the Afflicts were sprinting forward; I've also seen it in runs with randoms.
Myself though, I'm sticking to Demon no matter what, but after being the low man on the totem pole, nice to see it jump up again.

Again, Affliction has a small learning curve. So people are playing it now at top level. I figured it out in 5 mins at the dummy. Demo is a work in progress. It had amazing burst dmg. And amazing aoe.
Any spec will serve you well. I see more utility with Affliction because it's pretty straight forward. Dot, dot, shoot. While demo is a stance dance, and not for the newer player. But it is looking to have the potential when mastered to be awesome.

I am at the moment working on what professions since I have them all already I want to go with what can i benefit the most from. I was thinking JC and Tailoring how does that sound. Demo I choose because I have a level 85 affliction who i busted my butt off with and sucked so bad at DPS. My choice now is to make sure I LEARN my girl and learn her well. I want to be able to do DPS like others. I don't care if I go over it I just want to keep up.

If you go Jewelcrafting, pick up Mining; it will just make things easier on yourself.
Tailoring goes well with Enchanting or a gathering profession.

JC and Tailoring is fine, be sure you have a large enough bankroll to purchase your gems/ore in order to level JCing up, (like Adamsm said) you won't have mining to generate your own, it can get pretty expensive. I myself like Enchanting/Tailoring which works really well together because they are each are their own gathering profession.
If you have an 85 lock why are you making another? I know some people enjoy the leveling experiance, and that's great, but it sounds like you may just want to try different specs with the 85 and give something new a try. Destro has had some major changes and might be more to your liking.
If you're looking for some help dpsing, there's a short guide for level 85s in 5.0.4
here
that has a brief description of spell priorities for each spec. If you have any specific questions about DPSing we'd be happy to help you out. A link to your armory and a description of how you play would be great to help diagnose anything you may be doing wrong.
