What is the appropriate/optimal response/solution to guild recruitment spam?

I have found these whispers as well..every time one of my 'girls' is running around unguilded. For that reason as well as many others, I did form my own guild(s). I RP as well and find it much more enjoyable to be free of 'spam-ish' whispers. Finding like minded, hopefully older players like myself, helps to cut down the whispers as well..not sure why..perhaps because more often that not, I play with those friends and/or guildies.We may lose the guild perks that some of the large guilds have by keeping it small but, we have found we get a lot less whispers to leave/join ours instead type. I am sure some servers are worse than others and I am not sure of you server. On Wyrmrest Accord myself and it hasn't been so bad since forming my own guild.
So..yes, form a guild of your own..join with others you have enjoyed playing with..and if you don't do so already..continue to not respond to unwanted whispers.

Okay. Please don't actually do this (unless the guild consents to). Leeching perks is just asking to get removed from the guild.
Besides, it's more fun to be with players you enjoy, guild level be damned.
@OP: You can threaten to report the people who whisper spam you. It's surprisingly effective since most of the time, when you do report them, you catch someone using a recruit spamming addon.

If you are a veteran, just make your own guild. No perks, but if you are not in a guild at the moment you are not getting those anyway. With your own guild you can take as long as you want to evaluate other options and you will not have to endure all the whispers.

Just don't buy any bank tabs if you don't plan on keeping the guild.

It has been awhile, but I think I tipped 25g a signature to get my bank alt guild up and running and then kicked everyone out of it except myself and a RL friend. We use it for storage mainly, but when I was burned out on the stupidity that is guild drama, I had all my toons in it just to avoid the recruitment spam.
