I kinda dozed off halfway through this, but I will reply on what I read.
I was a human warlock for years. I liked the look alot. I always thought gnomes were stupid. Sorry Asakawa. But anyway, they look good to me, and also now with transmog in the game, you can see the gear on a human better cuz there bigger. Play what you enjoy though.
I wan not an enchanter, but was a tailor. It is the best prof. for a lock. You can make your cloak and leg enchants for virtually nothing. Enchanting is a solid prof. for any class.
Demon form is always the same size. Gnomes are not mini demons.

I used to play a gnome, and to be fair, I loved it. I would always laugh my ass off on every emote I did.
But, for some reason, when I came back on Cata, it wasn't nearly as funny anymore. Humans are fine but, not really my choice for caster, kind of stiff. But when I learned that dwarves were now able to be warlocks, I didn't think twice, I switched on the same day, haven't regreted the decision yet!
The visuals might not look great, dwarves in dresses don't look very good, but nevertheless, they are tons of fun to play as.

Look into going horde. I was big time anti-horde forever. Well my guild switched factions and I rolled an orc warlock, and I'll tell you, it is badass. The racials are amazing, and they look cool.

betrayer!
Lol. I did feel that way. I was 100% anti-horde. Despised them. But actually, not that I am horde, it's way better then Alliance. There's alot more flavor and color to the faction. Alliance is pretty vanilla in there characters and story lines. Not to mention my racial is freaking OP.

If I were to go horde, I'd probably either go Undead or Belf, imo Orcs seem too burly for a dress

Gnomes warlocks look good in my opinion but if you're going to PVP once max level you should go Human.
Have you ever tried to hit a gnome or goblin with that noggenfogger, or whatever makes em smaller? You can't see and target the little guys. They look like critters.

Why? Gnomes have their own version of
'Every man for themselves'
that everyone seems to forget about.

I was Horde fore about the entirety of my WoW playing. Until a few months ago. Similarly I wanted to try a Worgen, so made an Ally. The guild I found was awesome, so I transferred a few Horde > Ally and my Warlock is a Dwarf pluses: You don't have to see the tabard if you don't like it since your beard covers the front and you can wear a cloak/cape on your back. 10% damage reduction as a racial isn't a bad thing, for sure. And the animations to me just look better than other races. Humans are too spastic looking, Worgen flail their paws around and Gnomes ... well I just never liked them.
If you do go Horde, I always went Blood Elf and Undead. Orc is definitely "best" for min/maxing with their berserk racial, however I have heard good things about the new Undead racial with a passive "on damage" proc for a lifesteal effect. I just like Blood Elf casting animations, though. Especially for channels, it looks very commanding and arrogant.
Anyway, bottom-line is that it's mostly aesthetics for a lot of things these days. Undead/Orc racials are probably the best for Warlock right now, if you're min/maxing. Human's racial is always a PvP favorite, but the rest is just for looks. My lock's profs if it helps, are Tailoring (easy to level solo) and Inscription, which was horrible to level until I made another character go Herbalist. Tailoring/Enchanting is a classic for a reason. Especially on a caster for two rings that will give the "standard" bonus and tailoring, at least in Cata, was the best prof to have for it's casting bonus. Come MoP I see that either remaining true, or at least it going standard with the rest. Either way, it won't be a let down.
