I need to know about both healing trees and what people think is the best one for raid healing or tanking healing and explane why. Like the mechanics behind each healing specialization how it works best and i would like to know what tree helps your renew spell the most because as of right now its my fav spell.
If you like renew you'll want to go Holy as it's one of the main spells for that spec. Discipline barely uses renew at all.
The best healing spec for raids is whichever one you enjoy playing the most. If you started the priest recently I can say with 99% certainty that you will not reach a point where which spec you play significantly affects your ability to play in group content before MoP raids. If you don't intend to do any progression raiding with your priest that time frame is likely extended indefinitely depending on the state of the two healing specs on MoP release.
What race your priest is is irrelevant to which spec you should play.
Both holy and disc healing are really close due to the changes we faced after the patch with Disc being ahead by a little bit. they nerfed Disc a bit and buff Holy somewhat. Disc is slightly better because they have better mana management and other things. Honestly, try both and see what you like better, it shouldn't matter what other people think is better as people will say what they think is a better spec. Some just play whatever for fun.
I changed healing specs depending on what our group has during raids. Besides, instead of asking, do the research yourself. study the specs on wowhead.
For race, human is the best class due to there spirit bonus they get and there is the rep bonus. Shadow Priest get the twisted faith ability where spirit = hit for a 1 to 1 ratio(i think) and Draenei being second.
Holy has had a bit of a buff recently (partly because of the DH nerf to Disc and the new availability of PI to both specs,) but generally it has really struggled throughout Cata.
In 4.1 hardly any progression raiders were taking holy with most being dropped in favour of Disc. Especially on certain fights like Chim etc.
In 4.2 and to a degree in 4.3 haste stacking Disc were tearing up meters due to PoH/Divine Aegis spam. Latterly in 4.3 Holy has started coming back into the frame a lot more, it was slightly better suited to certain fights like Ultrax hc.
Now in 5.0 the balance is almost entirely readdressed - holy feels more like a druidy type healer while disc retains its very unique position in the healing roster, I guess Palas are the most comparable to Disc. The lack of a DH/Tranq type spell in Disc is really going to hurt progression raiders in MoP I suspect but because they have such a niche role there will still be plenty of reasons to bring them. PW:S provides excellent triage and often saves raids.
That being said, I suspect priests are still going to fall some way behind Pallys and to a slightly lesser degree Druids. ((Even Shammies who have perennially suffered since the end of BC may be beating us next patch with their new elemental/tree form clone/3 min CD type thing.))
The good news is that it looks like Shadow is finally getting into a good place. I know my DPS has shot through the roof since 5.0.3 came out. Nearly double the DPS in the same gear on HC ultrax, gone from 26-->40k.... Not to mention the improvement in BG's, we can actually properly blow people up now. 120k SWD crits ftw.
