Hello, I just need some clarification.
In this example, wowhead shows a 18% rate for alicite... is it a 18% chance to get an Alicite OR a 18 % chance to get 1.5 Alicites ?
In this example, wowhead shows a 26% rate for the Lesser Celestial Essences. Is it a 26% chance to get a Lesser Celestial Essence OR a 26 % chance to get 4 Lesser Celestial Essences ( 1.04 lesser celestials per prospecting in average ) ?
Its that chance to get one. At times you get more then one gem or you get multiple essence but it is for one.
For the prospecting question:
If you are asking for true in game rates of prospecting its more of a pool chance for each of the gems involved. You will get some kind of gem. According to the relatively small pool the percents are drawn upon (saying that when you consider the only ones that contribute to that data are the ones using the wowhead client, its not based off of all prospecting that occurs in the game.) the percentages could be completely off from what the game has built into it. But as someone who uses jewelcrafting as a great moneymaker this is how I perceive the process.
Prospect > Game determines if you get green quality gem (~95% of the time) or a blue quality gem (~5% of the time). Once it determines that it randomly determines the color, and then randomly determines if you get a single gem or more.
If you are asking more or less what the percentage on the page means and not what it means for in game play, hover your mouse over the percentage. Me doing it myself I get a popup bubble that states 'Stack of 1: 18% Stack of 2: 0.3%'
For the DE question:
Overall DE favors essences for weapons and dust for armor within the game, there is always a small chance you get the other, but as to the number you get, I just feel lucky for anything over 1. And the same as above applies to the page here on wowhead itself. Hovering over the percentage gives you a popup showing you its determined percentages for each chance from 1-7.
Hope this helps

Did not even notice the 'popup' showing the rates before :( sorry.
That's pretty clear now
