I think it's too soon to say, but i do believe that we are gonna desapear slowly by MoP. I do believe because blizz always seems to fu** with us every expansion. Even if we do well on the upcoming patch, there will be one nerf patch soon enough, by people claiming : "Warlocks were soooooooooooo much more balanced on Cata, now is a joke!" when their mages or DK's/Rogues see us pvping/dpsing just as well and with just as much effort as they do -.-
I think every good and old lock knows how it feels like =/

If they hold to what they are saying, I think there will be a big rise at first cuz of our HUGE overhaul. But after a few months I think we will drop lower then we are now.
The reason I think that is because of the QQ that we are a hard class, they will make us total retard mode. Then after the few months, the ones that fit into that mode will QQ again and move on cuz of there short attention span. Then the ones left are the players who look deeper into there characters and see the potential. Which honestly is the way I'd rather have it.

It is hard to take the Warlocks in MoP seriously so long as Mannaroth's Fury remains a Final Tier talent choice.
Haven't heard if this talent?
It increases the size (not damage, effect, or mana cost) of your AoE.

All three of the final tier talents are bad.
1)
rewards you (by doing dmg for you) for taking damage! The benefit is from BEING BAD! ARG. Now I know that it's design is to be like a cloud's silver lining - 'hey, there's incomming unavoidable dmg, might as well throw it back at'em!' but reward for taking dmg? Warlocks will be trying to absorb as much errant dmg that their healers will heal. Don't like it one bit.
2)
cast while move, nice, but you 1) do 50% slower channel/cast while active AND 2) move slower! Now, the only reason (from a pve stand point) to move is to avoid dmg/death, for which, moving slower would DEFEAT THE PURPOSE OF MOVING. so why on earth would I choose this?
and as you mentioned before
3)
increased aoe area. Now it
could
lead to a dps increase, assuming aoe packs cannot get corralled into a small enough area (unlikely) for the normal one. Plus things like shadowflame could hit mobs behind the ones we're interested in
Now if i PVPed I could at least find a use for 1 and 2 but the 3rd, is just not that useful. Not really excited about these.
But im not all doom and gloom. I do like alot of the class changes so far.

Do you think this game is moving toward a mainly PvP future? If you watch Tankspot's Legendary, Mike B was talking about this awhile back. The future of WoW is to be mainly PvP. Looking at these talents, and alot of class talents is leaning toward this.

Yeah, I think talents at least will be PVP focused. With the way they've re-done the talents, it's just way easier for them to implement situational/survivability/control choices for them. And PVP is, in my opinion, the epitome of being in a situation. PVE is more scripted and predictable and in that kind of game you're looking for performance, PVP you're looking for reactivity, control and survivability.
They've said they didn't want the cookie cutter or mandatory talents, well, PVErs will always pick whatever gives them a performance edge, and thus, by design, there won't be any PVE-centric talents. Now I think that there is one interesting (out of 6) PVE centric talent now, and thats the Grimoire choice. Which in the end should (if they balance things correctly) be a wash and will wind up being player's preference. Its just too difficult to design talents that are interesting from a PVE perspective without having every player take it, forsaking the other choices in the name of performance.
So thats for talents, but abilities seem to have been streamlined (or pigeon holed as some ppl feel) by spec, so the designers can balance properly. I haven't played much of the beta but I get the feeling from the feedback, and my limited time on it, that each spec will play one way and since the designers have so much more control over each spec now, they'll either force players to play properly (because thats literally all they can do now) or charge players not playing properly a huge premium on performance.
That said, the PVE focus I think will be on raid design and making the fights themselves more interesting rather than class design. And that kind of approach could work, if they really do make fights interesting even though me playing my warlock is the same and my guildie playing his, it may not matter since we're all having fun with the fight.
TL;DR PVP development will be delivered through class/talent design, PVE development will be delivered through fight design.

When you say this I immediately think of all the talk about making our class, or most classes for that part, easier to play with less of a penalty. This is why when asked about what do I think of MoP, I just can't answer. What are they doing? Streamlining us for a more nub friendly playstyle? Forcing us to play a certain way making all of us the the same?
I guess the one thing I like is making all specs very different playstyles. I haven't touched Beta yet because I like starting an expansion fresh. I can't wait to relearn my class x3 for each spec.

I think I worded that wrongly,
force
isn't the right word. Another way of putting it (perhaps a better one, it depends on your perspective) is that they're designing the specs so that it's not only intuitive (which it never was) but is also obvious (which it also, never was) which spells to cast, so yes more nub friendly. You pick destro and BOOM HERE ARE YOUR SPELLS TO CAST! in big letters. This means that players, especially new/returning ones, will have a much easier time learning to play, is that bad? I don't think so There'll still be a bunch of things that the best-of-the-best will do that the uncleaned masses won't (pre-pot, use cooldowns effectively etc..) so they will still have their edge. But new/returning players is what Blizz is all about, more subs is more money, thats really what their interested in, in my opinion. (but im getting into a topic that I'd rather not get into, but i'll suffice it to say that as long as they still make a good, fun game I'll still play it, reguardless of how much catering they do to whatever camp.)
All I'm really getting at is that I think they're trying to get it to a point where people don't
have
to come out of the game, go to wowhead, mmo-champ, EJ, Noxxic, etc to find out what they should be doing. Obviously the better players, the ppl interested in improving, will still do so because knowledge is power and all that, but really its not fun to have to go read 5 threads online about how to do things right, and thats only half of it, you have to search and verify that those threads are actually reliable, god imagine having to start from scratch again and not having the support of so many fansites that you know about to help you play better, it'd be a nightmare. I'd much rather have that information in-game somewhere. And I think this is probably their attempt at putting it in.

I just dinged a Paladin a few weeks ago and downloaded that clcret addon. And omg is it hilarious. It literally tells me how to play my character. Every move. I can top a dps meter with an addon playing for me. I pray to god all classes don't get that.

I'd actually like something like that to help learn a new class, though having it tell you EVERYTHING is probably a bit much, but some kind of in combat guide would be a good thing. And certainly over a certain amount of time it just becomes annoying.

I honestly don't see a problem with it. If you don't use it, you'll just program power auras or tellmewhen, button timers, necrosis or any combination of the many programable notification addons to do it. This one just comes pre-programed with what EJ says to do. Unless I'm missing something about what it does.

I think an addon won't work with a dot class. Yeah we could use out dot timers, but an all in one addon like for the ret won't work. Maybe for destro, but not for the other specs. I got way to much going on when playing Aff or Demo.
