Mastery>Dodge/Parry... Stam in far Heroic progression (Heroic DS, that is).
Runeforge=Stoneskin Garg/the Parry one, or if you're advanced like me you use Fallen Crusader. Don't do that until you're experienced.
Gear for HoTs... Be good? Just Death Strike often really, know the fights and what/when to interrupt and you'll be fine. Read guides to get better than that.

The OP indicated they were a new DK, so stick to the guides, and not bad advice about what to do when you outgear content.

lol what? Since when is 3/8hm "advanced"?
"Advanced" dk tanks use Stoneskin because so many heroic mode boss abilities come down to "Can you take a big hit?". For normals use Swordshattering, for heroics use Stoneskin Gargoyle. (by heroics, I mena Dragon Soul, not heroic dungeons).
Also askmrrobot is the worst place to go ever. Use
