Patty, I swear you're gonna love the "Ember Island Players" episode :P
I think it may be the first and only CANONICAL in-universe abridged version of a show ever.

Yes, it is one great episode. I believe Toph is portrayed awesomely in it.

YES TOPH IS ALSO A HARU/KATARA SHIPPER!
Which is odd considering she never MET Haru in the first place :P

Not sure if Patty has gotten to the Day of Black Sun yet so I'll put this in a spoiler. But Toph did meet him during the invasion. They also left on Appa after the invasion didn't work.

Toph met Haru at the invasion and spent time with him and everyone else at the Western Air Temple.

Maybe the price to pay for being a jack of all trades is being a master of none.
I've yet to see an avatar doing any of the sub-disciplines. Such as using waterbending to heal, or using earthbending to manipulate metal, or generating lightning, or even bloodbending.
Well after seeing an episode I thought of another sub-discipline, seismic sense. Now I'm not sure who all has used it, aside from people like Toph, Aang and Lin, but it is a useful technique to learn. And Toph did teach it to Aang, who ended up using it to fight Ozai.
So if you consider it one, and I would as I don't believe it is a widely used tool, Aang has learned a sub-discipline after all.

Well, Ozai is a bit of a DILF, isn't he?
On to Korra and my emotions will be all over the place.

did you finished the first show already? and what's a DILF?
BTW, you're just gonna love the very first sentence Korra says in her show.
That's how you establish a character WITH STYLE.

The paternal equivalent of a MILF. Dad I'd like to %^&*. Yeah, I finished it about an hour ago and just finished the first two episodes of Korra.
And I don't know how I feel about Korra yet, she's really quite arrogant.
Also, if Aang's descendants are the only airbenders in the world, won't that mean that they have very little genetic and stylistic (in terms of how they carry out their bending) variation?

Well, I'm certain that being voiced by Mark Hammil (Luke Skywalker) certainly helps.
And I don't know how I feel about Korra yet, she's really quite arrogant.
Considering how BRUTALLY effective the enemies are on the second show, she gets plenty of lessons on humility during the next remaining 10 episodes. Starting as early as the third one.

Likely yes, but on the genetic part, not so big a problem. Airbenders are required to invent their own technique before being considered masters and earning their tatoos.

The jazz-ish (I know it's not jazz but outside of like 1940sish I can't think of what the genre actually is) music in this show is fabulous. And Asami's hair is gorgeous omg.

They drew a lot of influences from Cowboy Bebop. Including the soundtrack. Its basically jazz as if it was invented in china =P as crazy-awesome as it sounds)
You'll get to love Asami's Character. I wont spoil anything but she's by far one of the most mature Teen characters I've ever seen.
Post by
Patty
I already like her because she immediately reminds me of other characters I adore. I don't know why, but Asami is almost like my headcanon for a human Rarity. I just like feminine characters that aren't treated like a madonna/%^&*!.

BTW patty, I dunno if you've seen the live action movie (seriously
DON'T
) but
this
is an awesome video.
Its a 24min review/summarization of the whole film, going into detail over why it sucks so badly. Its a nice way to see the movie without actually seeing the movie. Plus the video is VERY FUNNY =D

Something I'm little curious about is how people get their bending. And by that I don't mean from what, but from whom. Katara is a waterbender, yet neither her Mom, Dad or Gran-Gran are benders. Unless her grandfather is. And there is a girl in the Promise who is a firebender, and her dad is one as well and her mom is an earthbender. But how did she get chosen for fire. The same for Aang and Katara's children.
Is it possible for bending to skip generations? As an example let's use Bumi, the non-bender. If he has kids, is there a chance that one of them will turn out to be an air or waterbender like his parents? If he marries a fire or earth bender, will the baby have the chance at 3 different bending paths? Can someone become a bender if they have no known bending relatives, which may be the case for Katara.
I know it isn't a huge deal or anything, but it be something I'd like to know a little about.
As for a stylistic variation in bending, that will come down to how someone else plans on teaching. Since Tenzin was taught by Aang, who was taught by the monks, Tenzin will also teach his kids like the monks. And it seems that the Air Nomads also had little variations as everyone was taught the same.
Whereas waterbending has 3 different styles, so there is variation there. But between TLA and LoK, waterbending has undergone more changes. Due to the rules in pro-bending, they had to change their styles from the long streams and fluid movements to quick jabs and use of their lower bodies like how earthebenders do.
Bending styles will also change depending on who is doing. Something you'll notice is how the Avatars will incorporate it into their main element. Most earth bending is rigid, but Aang does it like he does airbending. You can really notice it when he made that zoo outside Ba Sing Se, as well as other fights.
