Making Unalaq bad is such a predictable cliche.
The platypus bear pooping thing had me dying.
Also, STOP MAKING AANG A DEADBEAT DAD!

It's the 4th episode.
He aint gonna be the big bad.

Agreed.
And I think I like Eska even more now, not because of her craziness (dat look of hers at the end), because her VA is Aubrey Plaza, She also plays a girl on Parks and Recreation, and she doesn't seem to have changed much between the roles.
Was good to see Asami as well, looks like she might be around for the rest of the season.

Eska could develop into a proper character.
I kind ship Esklin.

Very strong episode.
Am I the only one who's actually kinda glad Korra broke up with Mako? I never felt like their relationship was built on as strong of a foundation as Aang and Katara. Seemed like just puppy love.
Also excited to see the Fire Lord/Lady next episode, and really suspenseful cliffhanger at the end there.

aye very good episode indeed.
But it was also very uncomfortably familiar. The entire bit with the Southerner's peaceful protest, with the Northerner's animosity is a SPOT ON recreation of the animosity between the PCV and UNT here in venezuela. Right down to the bombing and the stirring up.
Also, I can't believe I'm saying this, but Korra and Mako did a switcheroo of personalities for this season. In the previous one, Korra was very reasonable, mature, and controlled when it came to her feelings, while mako was petty, self-absorbed, and always deflecting his responsibility onto others. Now its the other way around, Korra is being incredibly unreasonable, rash, and petty, while mako is actually the level headed one.
I'm still trying to figure out how is it that an underage teen is in the police, and actually made it to detective. Bear in mind that Mako is 17, and only 6 months have passed since season one. Even if he were now 18, that seems to be a VERY young age for someone to be promoted so quickly. Kinda reminds me of Stargate Universe, where some dude reached the rank of Master Sergeant in the military at the age of 23 which is VERY unrealistic.
Last but not least, how the hell did the creepy twins located Korra? o_O she didn't let anyone but a small few know where she was going, they had no idea she would be leaving republic city, and even if they did, ITS A FREAKING OCEAN, how exactly do you locate a small boat in the middle of an ocean with absolutely no general idea of which direction she was going? Did the North Tribe developed a satellite while I wasn't looking? come on, willing suspension of disbelief can only get me so far, please Avatar, come back to reality. Also if their orders were to bring her back, why did they retreated when that spirit attacked her? either she is dead and they had to confirm the kill by looking for her body, or she's alive and unconscious and thus they had the perfect opportunity to snatch her.
And there's something else that bugs me from that scene: Their vehicles were destroyed in their brief scuffle, how the hell were either of them going to reach their respective destinations? Using waterbending to move through the water will only get you so far, eventually you'll need to stop and rest, and again, ITS THE MIDDLE OF AN OCEAN, where exactly will they get that pit stop? if traversing the ocean was that easy, Korra would have no need of a boat in the first place. Nor would the twins.
I'm sorry but this season is slowly starting to decay in my eyes. Either that, or I'm too nit picky.

You're too nit-picky

Could be tracking her through a combination of water bending and blood line; after all, they are cousins.

I also noticed something else:
Unalaq must be a really sucky parent, as he has absolutely ZERO reaction to learning his daughter was about to get married, was left up at the altar, is still wearing her ruined wedding outfit, and is VERY upset about the whole thing. Shows how much he (doesn't) cares.

I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the first time this has happened to Eska. It's not like there was any deep or meaningful relationship between her and Bolin. She met him, he hit on her, and she decided to marry him. Do you really think this is the first time this has ever happened to her?

So far I like this season a lot better than the first one. I love that we get to travel around, rather than just mucking around in Republic City, plus none of that pro bending crap. It's a lot funnier than season one, and the breakup was just the icing on the cake. My one nit pick is that the scenes at the air temple are just boring and a waste of air time thus far.

In regards to Mako becoming a detective so early, it's not that
surprising
. I mean he did help save Republic City from an insurrection. Besides just because our society recognizes you as an adult at 18, doesn't mean the Avatar-verse does. Remember Sokka had a leadership role in his tribe when everybody else went off to war, and he was younger than Mako. Plus Zuko became the Firelord when he was only 16, and Azula was going to be given the same position when she was 14.

I'm under the impression that Mako is still an officer. I thought there was something about him being considered for a promotion in the first episode. If I have it on the recording I'll go back and watch it.
And I agree with what Hax said about the Air Temple scenes, this gives us a look into Tenzin's past.
But I guess I'm the only one that enjoyed the Pro-Bending, heh.

Monarchies are not the same as an organized police. I'm pretty sure no army in either of the four nations accepted teens or children.
And while this season is enjoyable, my willing suspension of disbelief is being strained to its limits. Seriously, they found a lone, small boat, in the middle of an ocean. That s*** is borderline impossible to do in real life despite all our modern technology, HOW THE HELL did the twins found her?

Zuko and Sokka were both accepted as prison guards. Toph was also allowed to fight in a tournament. And like I said, Sokka was basically the main warrior/protector of his village. There was also that family that Zuko bonded with in "Zuko Alone" who said their soldier son was around the same age as him. Lots of older cultures considered you to be a man by 15 or 16.

Who says she was in the middle of the ocean? Maybe she was only a mile or so from Republic City and they followed her.

Yup, Mako is still just an officer. He said, and I quote, "Beifong says if I keep it up, I can make detective soon".

Hey Rank, not sure if you noticed, but in this show they can manipulate the elements and fight spirit monsters.
It may not be real life. Not 100% sure on that one, but I have a small inkling it may not be real.
