I use the profiler for everything. Everyday. Luv it. Please don't take it away!

Hi,
I use the profiler for everything it has to offer.
From tracking which achievements I still need to get, to gear upgrade, to what I can cook my alt that night for dinner.
The reason I joined wowhead was for the profiler.
If you decide to take it away I would understand and wouldn't close my account or anything like that.
In my opinion it was one of the best features of the site.
In general I love it.
Thank you for the amazing website.

All I was pointing out is you can in fact see missing gems, enchants and other things like that on the WoW Armory. And getting there isn't that hard. I know some people rather use Wowhead than the official site, but that doesn't mean the official site is completely useless.
I believe, the poster you were replying to didn't mean missing gems on his equip but rather missing gems in his jeweller profession. And archaeology project he hasn't completed yet. The latter two are nowhere to be found in the wow armory.

but I use the profiler mainly to keep track of any enchants/gems that are missing from my characters.
Well from that setence, you can tell they're talking about the missing gem and enchants for their characters armor.
Also the fact that they never said anything about professions kinda gave me a hint, even when they replied after I told them about it.

I have missed the profiler to help with keeping track of the jewelcrafting plans my character knows.Well that's technically supported by the Armory, too, though you have to look up the sources of recipes on Wowhead.
Another feature that the Armory doesn't have is mass lookup of characters with certain criteria, e.g. all players on a realm with a certain achievement.
There's a lot the official Armory now supports as well, but also much it does not, let's hope the mentioned changes to character data retrieval fix (most of) the problems the Profiler has :)

I use the profile mostly to track completion, quests, professions, pets, mounts and archeology.
The quest completion is so nice, its a unique feature, I didn't find any other site with something similar. We can see everything we need on one page, it is very easy to use and very helpful. Every time someone asks me if I know 2 more quests in Nagrand for Loremaster I send them here.
I used it a lot to complete my pet achievements and now I'm using for mounts. I can exclude the ones I don't want and then can track easily the ones I need, the profile keeps a sense of progress for my character that I don't find anywhere else.
Some times I used it to see what gear was outdated on my alts, but to find upgrades I usually searched manually, I'm pretty good setting filters =) So I don't really need that function, and for optimizer at max level I use other sites.
The custom profile was nice to set transmogrification sets, but I don't use it since I discovered the addon Mogit. And we can always use the compare items trick to show sets in 3D. Anyway, I don't think that was the problem with instability of the profile, right?
In short, the completion tabs are so well designed and so easy to use and really helpful, and that is unique to wowhead. I will miss it if you take it away, especially with all new data to track on MoP. I hope you guys find a way around the problem and put it back working.
Wowhead always makes my "life" easier, the profile isn't different.

The profiler is a great tool and I appreciate you guys having it. Currently I use it for alt gear tracking and professions. I also used it for mounts/mini pets/achievements on toons, but come Mists that gets simplified, but i would still use he profiler for that.
I think come Mists, some of your issues with the profiler maybe simplified in terms of Character Data loads as more things go account wide which is nice. I do hope this feature still stays around in Mists.

So at this point i am guessing ETA will be "when its ready"... Which is fine by me, it is a wonderful program and has helped me alot find quests missed. Hope everything works out for ya'll.

What do you guys mostly use the profiler for?
I use it while leveling toons to determine what is the best equipment for them.
I use it for my mature toons to find which drops in what dungeons I need to watch out for.
For others, I use it to see what recipies I *could* have that I don't.
I think I have at one point used nearly every feature that is offered, and I probably use the profiler nearly every day, but only for one purpose at a time.
However, I think it might be possible to present the profiler and the things that it does so that it does not hit the database as hard. For example, the current landing page shows the character image, plus the equipment, plus a table of the equipment and the rankings and a stats summary. Perhaps instead just a quick summary should be presented and a "View" tab be added with character image and another tab for the "Equipment" inventory and scores.
That way, someone looking for reputation wont hit the database for the equipment and toon picture.

IMO the wowhead profiler is the best tool on the internet. It's many facets make it the one stop shop for quest completion, gear upgrades, alt viewing, and so much more.
I really hope you are able to find a way to keep it accessible for me, and as you can see, many others who have come to count on it as a huge time saver.

I may be too late to respond to this post, as I haven't been on Wowhead much. Why? Because I mainly use it for the profiler and it hasn't been working :(. I use it to keep track of quests, achievements, gear and upgrades, pets, mounts, pretty much everything I could use it for. Use of the profiler is the reason I became a paying member - I used it so often I felt I should help to cover the cost of such a great tool. I don't use the forums much (as you can see from my history) since people are pretty darn mean with the anonymity of the internet. Though they are much nicer here than they are on the in-game trade chat (not saying much there I guess!). I use a google search instead and can usually come up with an answer to my question. I would still use Wowhead without the profiler, but probably just for some of the guides - of which most are excellent!

It's already taking up a lot of resources considering its traffic (it has about ~2k users a month nowadays, which is indeed a minority of a minority of a minority unfortunately--the thing that sucks is this minority is very vocal and pleasant to Wowhead). Honestly, if its users weren't such a nice bunch, I would have shut the project down quite a while ago because it has never been beneficial to Wowhead. I think in general there isn't a large demand for tools like the profiler.
I'm somewhat shocked that it has such low traffic. I'm on it at least once a week tinkering with one of my characters or spying on my friends and looking up suggestions for their gear or gems or enchants and such. I've spent a couple of hours at a time just tinkering around with it. It's almost a game itself.

Ugh, and I spent an hour trying to figure out where this feature was, after coming back to WOW not to long ago.
I use this feature, or used to in the past, and hope you all decide to bring it up/back

I think a lot of that is users like me. I will beat up the profiler for a week or 2 and then may not visit it for several weeks. A lot of that depends on what my current interest in WOW is, i.e. am I leveling alts, or attempting profession completion(which I have yet to do on any alt), or working on one of my maxed alts that I am wanting to get geared up. So depending on what I need from Wowhead, depends on which sections I am beating up.
