For Battlegrounds, pretty much any spec works. I have fun on all of them in BGs, Afflic is great against casters, Demo is really strong against melee, and Destro is good for bursting down and racking up Killing Blows.
For Arena's, Affliction is your strongest option because Unstable Affliction 'protects' your DoTs from being dispelled, has great pressure, and CC.
edit: just wanted to add in that I don't know enough about Warriors to address that part

Arms is the only viable arena spec nowadays, and Fury mobility is so bad you'll want to go Arms immediately in BGs.
Prot Warriors and Feral Druids are probably the best flag holders at the moment.
