You can do LFR and do DS much faster. Its split up in to halves, so you can do the part that you need, when you need it.
and no, you can't get them without raiding DS. It's designed that way, and would otherwise be quite stupid, IMO, to make them easier to obtain.
Oh, and it's rogue, not rouge.

DS takes less than hour and a half if your group/raid is not pushing for hard modes and not wiping a lot. If you can always get into a raid group on that one night a week you will be able to get your Legendary dagger in like 3 months or so. Kind of late to be start working on your Legendary but if you don't care about MoP hitting soon after you get your Legendary, go for it.

takes 5 months in a 10 man and 2.5 months in a 25 man to get the daggers. unless they up'ed the drop rates of the gems. this is if you have 100% attendance and do 8/8 clears per week.

Sadly this is true. I was averaging around 40 shards a week on a full clear. I got to the second part of the chain 2 weeks ago. I currently have 14/60 of the Elementium Gem Clusters needed for the next part. I am looking at another 6 weeks since I only ever do 10man DS10 raids.
