Everything is viable, although i dont remember any SV hunters in arena recently.
Dpends what you mean by pvp - dueling, bgs, arenas.
For bgs it should be fine though.
Something like
this
with 3 floating points, that can be put somewhere in SV tree (just not into mirrored blades or counterattack - these are useless) or into One with nature in BM tree.
Prime glyphs are pretty straightforward. Major glyphs beside those taken, depending on playstyle you may use freezing trap, trap launcher, ice trap, masters call...
Also you must use 2 pieces of pve tier, else its unplayable.

SV isn't all to useful unless the comp works on keeping frost trap down nearly all the time

2700+ MMR Hunter/Lock/Shaman
http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=175503
the hunter in the video is Survival. Good synergy with Affliction Lock i guess (Curse of the Elements and UA dispel protection).
In BGs it's fine. You'll of course miss Readiness, but when trying to kill a plate wearing flag carrier Survival can feel quite cool.
I've seen people spec like this:
http://www.wowhead.com/talent#ccbbZcZurGfMGMRo:RzsVZMm
with no Black Arrow (and no TNT either) mainly because Black Arrow is expensive and easily dispelled, getting instead Spirit Bond (this sort of assumes someone is healing you, although the passive heal as you ride across the BG is good too). Having said that if you often play with a Affliction Lock or Shadow Priest you might want Black Arrow, i dunno.
Mirrored blades is in there for BG fun, and it is very fun. Could switch it for TNT if you get decent use out of Explosive trap.

Soooo basically my question is... is survial viable pvp any more?
personnally i dont really mind pvping as anything but im one of those people who like pvp/pve of the same spec (for e.g Survial pvp and Survial pve)
For SV to really shine in PvP, you really need a second spec for it. Talents like Mirrored Blades, Survival Instincts, and Entrapment provide a clutch boost in tough fights.
In a standard PvE spec, you only have points to take one of the latter two talents (usually SI to ensure FD isn't resisted).
Depending on your playstyle, it may be beneficial to pick up Spirit Bond for the healing boost, especially if you find yourself focused frequently. Obviously this talent has no place in a PvE build.
I used to raid and PvP in the same spec, and all I can say is that you really should try a dedicated spec with the talents and key binds (or action bars) optimized for PvP. It makes a world of difference.

While I agree completely about Counterattack, I believe Mirrored Blades has its uses. Especially with all the idiot dotcleave teams in BGs these days.
Bouncing a fear, Starsurge, hex, stacked Mindblast, or just about anything a mage casts at you can be huge.
That said, it's highly situational and Deterrence has a long cooldown. But it's far from useless---unlike Counterattack, which is a clear WTF talent.

It's almost like, if you want to pvp you have to have a pvp spec...
