I love going back with an 85 and doing BC and LK dungeons, and as I'm fairly new to shaman, I was wondering what the general consensus is on whether to use ELE or enhance for soloing the old content.

theres a few dungeons I can only do as enh due to silence spam.
enh also has more survivability with MW5 procs insta heals and wolves/shamanistic rage.

Pretty much this. Old dungeons are filled with mobs that knock you around to interrupt spell casting, and full of silencing too. The last room in UBRS and Blackheart's room in Shadow Labyrinth are both typical of this. I can pull many rooms at once with a paladin or warrior, but have to take each group slowly and carefully with my priest.

Are LK heroics even possible with a shaman?

LK heroics are pitiful, and you could probably solo most if not all of them before you even hit 85. Some wotlk raid bosses can be soloed as a shaman. I killed Marrowgar and a few bosses in both Nax and Ulduar in mostly t12 gear, and with decent gear in this tier, you can probably solo all of VoA.

even as ele I have a couple wrath heroics on farm (tho havent actually had the tim eot run them last few weeks) its possible given the right knowledge/conditions
enh is much easier tho for soloing as enh I could solo wrath heroics with only a few rough patches on certain bosses/pulls

Best part of Enhance would be Ancestral Swiftness - instant cast ghost wolf lets you get through the dungeon fast. Nothing up to Wrath can even touch you, and along with shamanistic rage, glyphed stoneclaw totem and wolves, as well as your MW5 self-heals you have plenty of options for self preservation.
I like Enhance for old content because of the wolf since most of your time is just getting from point A to point B.
