But the reason your wearing a tabard is to represent and gain reputation with a faction. How would you gain a reputation for that faction if no one knew you were representing that faction?

Prob the same way you can wear a helm and get credit for it in your inventory but at the same time not have it appear on your toon. Not saying this to flame you but just to point out that not everything makes 100% perfect sense in wow. Or being able to suddenly mount up on a giant drake while swimming underwater. Invisible tabards wouldn't be that much of a stretch given the current state of things.

To some extent I agree with you; however, the entire point of a tabard is, typically, cosmetic. Having it be invisible is ultimately against it's primary purpose. But, since tabard's have started becoming more useful in regards to reputation gains and such, I wouldn't personally be opposed to the option of toggling for those who want it.

I don't wear a tabard on my primary toon. I did while I was raising reputations and it was useful to do so, but after that was completed I took them off and I only wear two on occasion just to use their abilities (teleport to Tol Borad or Argent Tournament).

I would support "hide tabard."

Tabards on plate and leather wearers look good. But a place the tabard on a toon wearing a robe, the tabard tucks into the lower portion of the robe. This makes no physical sense, unless your robe is in fact a blouse and skirt combo. In that case, selling me that "robe" was false advertising. I absolutely hate the fact repping up with the tabard on my male toon means I'll be running around wearing a skirt.
