It's super easy to get in. But almost impossible to get out. Bear in mind I didn't spend more than 2-3mins on Facebook and there might be a way to permanently delete it, but it sure isn't readilly showing.
I deleted my main facebook that had hundreds of friends, you have to google "delete facebook" (really, it's the only simple way), and click a link in an e-mail...and most importantly...NOT SIGN ON FOR TWO WEEKS. Signing on in this period will re-activate it. After two weeks of not signing in to FB or any of the accounts linked to it, it will be gone "permanently" (but they probably keep your information forever.)
Is there no automatic way of it happening through facebook directly? I deactivated (and was told on the website!) when they made the timeline change because stuff from when I was 15 = death that it would automatically delete after two weeks, but that's not the case, three months on. Most annoyingly, I made a spam email for my facebook account at the time to free up my other account. However, I can't remember said email address. Smurt Patty.
TL;DR - Won't facebook automatically delete any profiles on its own?

I don't think so...I'm pretty sure I had to do an e-mail activation. It doesn't hurt to start the process and see for sure though...I'm 99% positive I had to access my e-mail. I guess the next best thing is to delete everyone and delete all your information, and never log in again!
Pretty sure facebook won't delete any inactive profiles...as I know friends who have forgotten their info/been hacked, and their profiles are still up. Also, there's been talk about how when someone passes away, their profile always stays active. Some believe that when an individual passes, their profile should be passed on to a relative or friend for deletion/editing.

Oh, cheers. Just hooked my old account up to a new email address. It's... surprisingly easy to do so. I'll delete everyone when I can log in (in 24 hours!) and then follow up your deletion link. No risk in being thorough. :D

I just like to use facebook as a place to talk to my friends when I can't see them IRL, and to amuse them with various funny statuses and pictures, but I keep the personal stuff I post to a minimum. I don't like to submit anything more personal then a picture of me with "I'm Dennis, I like Star Wars a lot" to a site like facebook.
This exactly.

Can see this maybe getting nasty--I don't want to censor OT much, but this is begging to name names and have people get upset.(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Ashelia##DELIM##

I've removed today's question and removed several replies. These things simply can't get personal like that - it's not fair and it will only lead to arguments.
If anyone trolls in a way that breaks then report them. If they just post in a way you dislike that does not break rules then ignore them. That is all.

From what Ash is saying, it's about behavior of specific people in the forums.

Just out of curiosity, what was the question? If you don't want to post it here you can even email it to me, it's in my profile. Just for the sake of curiosity, really...
I agree. The fact it was removed only deepens the mystery (and my desire to know) ;o

I'm sorry, I hadn't intended to make it a point of curiosity.
It was about forum trolls and the problem isn't that anyone specifically crossed the line in response to the question but it was, after only a couple of replies, getting into territory where people would feel insulted or picked on and that's simply as a result of the topic that was raised. I would be much more comfortable if these questions kept well away from topics that get that personal, like asking for users to single out and name other users (especially in a negative way).
I hope that makes my intervention a bit easier to understand. This wasn't a moderation action against any individual (not even the OP for raising it), just heading off a dodgy topic before it got nasty.

Nah, it's a good move, we don't need a flame war topic.

Sometimes- depends on the game. I did in wow, because a lot of them had actual rewards. I don't often when there aren't any titles or anything involved.

Absolutely; if there is a "hardest mode completed", I am for that. If there is some obscure way to play the game, or complete it without dying (Dragon Age: Origins "I'm kind of a big deal" comes to mind), or something like that - I always aim for them. I do not, however, find achievements such as "Obtain 25 chickens" to be very interesting, and I get them if I do, but I don't go out of my way to do so.
