Don't get me wrong. I love the Pandaren. I don't mind them being a playable race, though neutral race I take some issue with, I don't mind them being in game, they're awesome.
However, designing the entire EXPANSION around them is stupid. Every prior expansion has been specifically dedicated to an evil of myth and power that we must conquer or fight for our very lives against. This is about a singular not-very-well known and not very fleshed out race in the WoW universe. I don't mind their being a Pandaran 5-man, but going from killing Siamat the South Wind or whatever to cleaning out Chen's bar... It's just not an engaging dungeon. I don't really feel like I'm doing anything. Kobold and kobold-esque creatures overrunning a building used to be material for a solo-quest, not a heroic 5-man.
This expansion brings many interesting mechanical changes, but those can come from any expansion. From a story point of view, it is by hundreds of miles less 'epic' and 'engaging' than any other expansion I could think of. In my opinion, make a small portion of Pandaria one of the new zones available for high level, like Uldum was, or maybe the new Wintergrasp, put a big bad on the cover and name it after whatever he's doing, and design it from that point of view.

My favorite part of the trailer was when they go "An adventure unlike any other..."
Because the other ones were, y'know, epic.

<Lots of stuff here>
Well stated. Easily the best summary of what we have so far.
Also, WOW. Suddenly, massive positive response. Guess there may be some hope after all.

I think it will either be a huge succes or a complete failure. The playerbase seems to be split in two, haters on one side and lovers on the other. I don't see any middleground for this.

=) thanks, I do try to write up decent reviews.
not everything in MoP is perfect, like I said, I'm not too happy about the talent changes, or the fact that it will be just 5 zones and 5 levels, but hey, everything else looks AWESOME.

the MAJORITY of the fan-base LOVES the pandaren, in fact, when they were announced as the fifth race for warcraft 3 as a joke, PLENTY of players were disapointed that it was just that, a joke. And plenty more rejoiced when the brewmaster was added in frozen throne.
The thing is, whiners love to whine, several people made brand new accounts on both wowhead mmo-champion and just about every comunity site for wow just to rant about how lame pandas are, and how MoP will kill wow (yhea right, they said the same about cata, and horrid as it was, look, here we are still)
once they vent their frustration however, the real vocal majority is seen.

I actually like the way the talents are set up. If they can actually make it somewhat of a choice (some of the Hunter tiers actually have solid choices at the moment) then this setup could actually work...o.0
I can understand the lack of customization being a bit of an issue...but then again...there isn't exactly much now.

Second is the major on and it is the talent tree. I loved leveling up characters and(used to be every level) every couple levels boosting your character. Getting something new(new spell etc.)
Well something worth noting here is by choosing your specialization, you do automatically receive spells periodically as you level up that are exclusive to that specialization (i.e. Arcane Barrage, shorter cd Evocation as an Arcane Mage). They pretty much just "trivialized" it, so to speak and allowed us to get some extra spell as a perk, so to speak, every 15 levels for the customization aspect.

I chose other, for me it's just too soon to tell. I will need more time to sort out what is me going "holy crap too much CHANGE!" and how much is "meh, this sounds silly" and how much of me could actually become interested or excited about MoP. It's just too soon.

Panda - new race is expected
Monk - new class was a bit of a surprise
Talents - gutting the system again and only giving us 6 talent points which are either very unimportant, or else will be ´required´. GC needs to go, he wastes too much development time accomplishign nothing
PvE scenerios - mini dungeons that don´t require the trinity? Nice addition
Pokemon - pokemon. I guess a good addition and will keep many players entertained.. not something I would do
I personally have not seen them talk about solo content enough. I fear this is going to be another expansion where most players will race to level cap in a week, then spend a year running the same boring heroics again and again. Doesn´t matter if you had guildlevels or timed runs to them....they are still the same dungeons with the same boss fights.
Until I see details about solo quests and more of an effort to make daily quests challenging, I am not coming back.
They stole ideas from so many games.. they really need to look how DDO does solo dungeons.

Longevity: TBC added 12 new zones, and 10 new levels, WOTLK added 11 zones and 10 new levels, but cata added only 5 zones and 5 levels and it showed. I had fun in WOTLK leveling from 70 to 80 and it took me nearly 2 weeks and a half, and still had several other zones on northrend to explore and quest on, fully completing every zone took me a full month.
Then along came cata, took me 2 days and a half to go from 80 to 85, and took me 1 week and a half to complete all 5 zones =(
They only added 5 levels because they did a lot of other things. They revamped the talents, like they plan on doing in MoP again, as well as revamping all of the level 1-60 zones. They added archaeology which took up a lot of time for someone to level and even longer if they wanted to get mounts and items that are exclusive to it. They also added 2 new races that have special starting zones for each. If you think about it they did a lot for cata even though they only added 5 levels to the cap.
As for MoP they're adding the new race, a new class, a whole new area to level in as well as the Pandaren starting zone. They're also adding 3, or is it 4, new BGs and going back to the Horde v. Alliance scenario. Also just the 5 levels for the cap, and that may not be all as it is 1.5+ year(s) away and we only got the 1 teaser trailer.
Now if they did make the cap 90 for cata, then yes they would have done more then 5 zones as well as making it take longer to level and explore all the zones. But since its only 5 levels, why bother with 8+ zones?
Not trying to say you're in any shape wrong or anything, just wanting to point a few things out. I also remember reading something about how Blizz is wanted to get xpacs out quicker, what better way then to do it with fewer levels to cap in and not as many zones to explore?
Edit: To add to the talents, it is a toss up to them being ruined/fixed. It may seem like they only made it more cookie cuter specs, but they not if you think about it. Stay with me here. By taking out all the talents a class will choose anyway, such as pure dps/healing/surviability increases, they letting the class take other smaller choices that shouldn't affect how well they will do.
Lets take a mage for example. Like Interest said a few posts up, 'They pretty much just "trivialized" it'. Arcane mages will still get their reduced CD on Evo and Arcane Barrage, but they can get talents that were locked in another tree such as
Cauterize
. If you're a Frost mage you can get the Imp. Polymorph thats in Arcane that makes the target stuned after breaking the CC.
These will change individual play styles, but shouldn't change the over class. Or something to the lines of that.

Exactly, so every level 14 frost mage will be exactly the same, and the difference between lvl 90 frost mages is going to be very very small. Two things can happen.. one talent will be so good that it will be mandatory, or the 3 choices are so close, and so meaningless that which one you choose doesn´nt really matter. So far I have seen very few talents choices that are actually meaningful and require a choice. The only ones that have a real choice is because they are all similar, or all blah.
I really like the way we specialize now at lvl 10.. but the actual talent trees were much better in WOTLK. The way it is now.. looking at my moonkin.. is I now have 6 talent points 4 of which won´t affect my gameplay at all, 1 which every moonkin will take, and then a ´ healing´ one which are all basically just a ´heal´.
GC needs to go, he just wastes too much time making us relearn this crap and it doesn´t end up any better. Wonder what they are doing with Archeology, or guild leveling... you know the stuff that took 5 mins to design because the devs were gutting the talent tree system once again.

I sense a massive lawsuit from Disney or whoever made Kung-Fu Panda.
But i think Blizzard is trolling the entire community, or if they are not, will lay of the LSD for a while and come to their senses and give us a proper expansion with a proper villain and a proper story line. This just has to be the works of someone very high on LSD, might have seemed like the best idea ever while stoned, but when the Stoner comes to his senses, lets hope he sees his mistake and tries to make amends.
Im interested in seeing new content, but im disappointed that the new Monk class will be more of a Shaolin Monk than a Scarlet Crusade Monk. pandahumans are ok in the game, but i am dissappointed that Garrosh says "Ooooh let half of them join the Horde! They are so cute and Cuddly! Btw i am a closet Furry!" and not "Look Pandabears! Lets kill them all, have a massive barbeque with Pandaburgers and panda McNuggets rinced down with Panda Wieners and steal their land! Lok´Tar Ogar! For the Horde!
