Agreed, Elhonna. Also, remember that the creators and the actor have all said that the Governer doesn't start off at quite the same level of evil he started at in the comics. We're seeing more of his journey. Just because he won't rape anyone
now
doesn't mean he wouldn't later. Also, with Maggie it was nothing personal, at all. a difference from the comics.

What would be an interesting twist, would be if it was Andrea who was his victim, once she's gone back to the group. She's only one dirty little secret and a map to the prison away from leaving his twisted self behind. THAT would be something personal for him. That would be the kind of betrayal that would unleash the inner psycho.

So the first scene in tonight's episode of The Big Bang Theory had Raj and Leonard arguing about whether mummies are zombies or not. Raj was saying that they were while Leonard and the other guys agree they are two completely different things.
A few weeks ago I was thinking along the same lines, that mummies are just zombies without the infecting others. It's like the whole " all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares" thing, all zombies are mummies (that they are the living dead) but not all mummies are zombies (since mummies can't infect others and they don't have super strength).
That is just how I see it anyway. And hopefully I didn't miss a post talking about this already, I'm on my phone and it would be a pain to go back and read through the entire topic.

Technically, the original use of the word zombie described a person brought back through magic, and there was no such thing as a zombie "infecting" someone else to make them a zombie. That came from Night of the living dead, and people just went with it.

Yeah that makes sense. So I guess the first zombies were pretty much the same as mummies. But most zombies people think of come from some sort of virus.

Mummies, Zombies, Vampires, Lichs all fall under the undead category, but each are different from the other....just like in the terms themselves they can be a varied and completely different version of themselves: Hoodoo Zombies compared to the Infected or Rage Zombies to Shamblers etc etc.

Zombies in pop culture eat people, mummys don't. I think they're both living dead but different categories.

So... if zombies are rectangles, and mummies are squares, does that make vampires rhombuses?

All rectangles are squares, if Mummys can be classified as Zombies then your analogy was right the first time. Although I wouldn't consider a Mummy a type of Zomie...

Also, most mummies(at least those who are the monster movie antagonist) do have super strength; capable of tearing men apart like paper and the like, or have super powerful magic in addition to the Curse that brought them back in the first place.
That being said, they do mimic the Voodoo magic zombies, who were also suppose to be abnormally strong and unstoppable without the need to eat the living.
And of course, there are a few movies where the mummies do eat the living to try to revive themselves.......
Really, just easier to classify them under the Undead moniker and be done with it lol.

I'm wayyyy behind on the discussion, but I kind of thought that Glen was more of a badass simply because of how he killed the walker in the room, than Merle who has four people hold them down while he pulls their teeth.

Ok my thoughts on the episode. Andrea remains as annoying as ever, and Carl continues down his
manning the !@#$ up
path. The look the Governor gave Merle when he realized that he lied to him was absolutely bone chilling... I LOVED IT! As cheesy as it sounds, I think Phillip Blake died in that room, now we just have the Governor. As far as the ending goes We see Daryl running through the woods, and some of those smoke bombs in that arena where they were all standing, so I'm guessing Rick saves him Merle will probably either die helping his brother escape or go back to the prison with them. I'm guessing its the later because we see Glenn in the preview yelling "What is he doing here!" I'm hoping Merle survives, just listening to him talk is entertaining. Plus I still want to see him cut off Rick's hand but if Rick helps rescue him that might not be as likely...

To be fair, teeth pulling takes precision, and you have to stick your hands inside their mouths. Merle cut off his own hand and still managed to kill two walkers.

We just knew...
that Daryl wasn't going to die there. He's too popular a character to lose this soon in the series. I think Merle is going to end up in a cell at the prison, and provide various Merlisms and one-liners for the rest of the season, before dying somehow- either being killed defending his brother if they want to give him a single redeeming characteristic, or being killed by his brother because he has no redeeming characteristics.
I was a little surprised that of the two prisoners, Oscar was the one who got an early death. I totally expected it to be the other guy. I also expected this one (Axle, is it?) to be sleazier than it seems that they're trying to paint him. Not that showing interest in a 17-year old isn't sleazy, but I expected him to be worse. I'll be a little disappointed if they take the show in the direction where he starts pursuing Carol, and she is receptive to it, because I was still on the Carol/Daryl boat.
I can't wait for Andrea to die- she's a moron. I'll grant that like 50% of it is coincidence and the careful manipulations of the governor, but she has a history of making the worst choices in the show, and if she doesn't die by the end of this season I will be severely disappointed. It will be interesting to see her reaction to the group telling her what really happened, and to eventually finding out the Governor was banging that teenager, but knowing her character she'll likely make the most asinine choice in both cases.
Michonne is kind of an idiot too, though. Her anger management issues are a little out of control, and she could have made a lot of headway into the Andrea issue if she'd taken 15 seconds to say "I'm here because he sent Merle to kill me. Also, they kidnapped your friends Glen and Maggie and were holding them here and we came to rescue them." Her stubbornness is almost a caricature and defies all common sense. I don't know that I like her all that much.
I think the Governor is going to get a lot darker now. His daughter is fully dead, his town is scared and will be more willing to follow his crazier orders, and he is now going to be paranoid with the defection of Merle.
New people are new. I think Tyrese will be a strong character like he was in the comics. I think his daughter does not seem like the suicide type in the series, so she'll most likely be a much stronger character than she was in the comics. I imagine her boyfriend and the other guy will be body count fodder.

It's a pity they made Andrea such a terrible character considering how awesome she is in the comics. I don't even mind that shes tapping the Governor, Hell that clip of her pulling her pants up is my new screensaver... not really. I mean from everything she's seen up until this last episode, he's just been a nice guy and a damn good leader.
To me the problem is that she's just so damn annoying! She's always trying to hard to put herself in the action, and she winds up being so bad at it. She kept going on and on demanding to go help fight the intruders, saying how good a shot she is with a gun, then when she goes out there she doesn't manage to land a single shot.
Ugh I just realized Carol and Daryl rhyme -.-
Did I mention how much I'm starting to love Carl this season btw?

I think Carl is being treated unrealistically. I think his poise and problem solving capacity are a little advanced for his age, and the amount of deference the actual adults are giving to him in RIck's absence would just not be happening. It makes for a "cool" kid, but not very realistic storytelling, IMO.

Would you rather he be the same annoying little twat he was in season 2, causing everybody problems? I mean yea he's unrealistic for a kid, so is Arya from Game of Thrones and she's everyone's favorite character. It's no more unrealistic than anything else in the show.

I think a kid can be smart...for a kid...and mature a lot, and still read as a kid.
