More that it's an eastern religion, with a monotheistic feel, but with another entity opposing the patriarchal deity. Unlike most pagan religions that have a large pantheon, this is a religion that soley worships a single God, but aknowledges the existance of another. Also God of Light sounds similar to Lord of Light.
Plus GRRM has a habit of basing his deities on already existing material. The Drowned God is Cthulhu, that's fairly well known. Mostly attributed to the Ironborn saying having a similar ring to the HP Lovecraft line. "What is dead can never die", and "What is not dead can eternal lie, and as strange eons pass, even death may die." Then of course the Seven is obviously similar to the catholic Holy Trinity.

"Then of course the Seven is obviously similar to the catholic Holy Trinity." Really? I read it as more similar to aspects of deity in Pagan religions: Maiden, Mother, Crone (Wicca), Odin as Warrior, Shaman, One eyed stranger in Norse tradition. Wayland Smith (Icarus). etc.
No, because the seven aren't really seven different beings. They are described, more than once, as being seven different aspects of the same God. Similar to the holy trinity, God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit being God's omnipotent presence on Earth. They're both monotheistic religions (unlike all of the pagan deities you mentioned) and they both worship the same God, with different aspects. The various pagan religions you mentioned all make use of multiple Gods, that are actual separate entities, rather than just different faces of the same being.
Also the organization and political setup of their church is clearly inspired by the Catholic church during the middle ages.

THE ONE TRUE GOD

Arya is very similar to her mother in the regard that she acts on instinct and has a real thirst for vengeance, yet the amount of hate Catelyn gets for these qualities in contrast to Arya is disproportionate. I call out when Arya gets called a psychopath, too, though, because for some reason a lot of Sansa fans feel the need to qualify their love for her by bashing Arya (which misses the point of the Stark sister dynamic completely, lol, but that's another issue).
You're either being willfully blind, or you have poor analytical skills. If the latter is true I would avoid saying things like "People miss the point of the Stark sisters" or "A person's interpretation is wrong". Arrogance ill suites the ignorant.
The big difference here is that Arya's rashness and impulsiveness usually winds up saving her life or the lives of her compatriots. Also, as Ryan mentioned, she is a child and Cat is a grown woman. As part of the ruling family Cat also bears responsibility for her people, where as most of the time Arya is on her own and people have no idea who she is.

Gonna comment as I watch this.
I'm pissed we didn't get to see the Hound kill anybody on the way out of the wedding. The thing with the dire wolf's head was brutal though, actually make me feel a little sick, I'm glad they didn't pass that over.
I
love
the scene with Tyrion and Sansa bonding! Too bad I have a feeling it's about to go horribly, horribly wrong...
I'm really not sure how to feel about the guy they got to play Ramsay. I mean he's just as evil as the book version, and they don't hold anything back, but I don't remember finding the book version this hilarious...
You notice how much more likable the Iron Born and Stannis and damn near anybody who has a chance of taking the Lannisters/Freys/Boltons down a notch seems after the Red Wedding?
I LOVED the ending. That's such a great way to handle it, the part with Stannis and the Daenerys is like telling the audience, the War of Five Kings was just a sideshow, the real climax is going to be with the Others in the North, and the Dragons and such.
Too bad it's going to be at least 3-4 years before we see any of that...

Yea but we don't see UnCatleyn for the first time until a while after she was ressed. We need time for rumors to start circling and for the Freys and Lannisters to start dropping like flies.

Different situation, we still heard about Theon and knew what was happening to him. Stoneheart is supposed to be a surprise.
