i know there are probably 1000 topics about this but anyways....dont you think blizzard should really do something about the game? tbh today everyone cares just about the achivments & ilvl / gearscore
theres NOTHING to do in the game then pvp (wich gets boring pretty fast imo) dailys & raids...it might be just me tho...but still imo blizzard should be releasing new content faster or at least if they made the new expansion (cataclysm) they could release 70% of the stuff already....and not make the players wait a year before everything gets released ...imo the game will die eventually and new games will be coming out...(rift, guild wars 2,...)
the game could be so much better if blizzard would do something about it
Just want to reply to this OP. You say there's nothing to do in the game,... are you serious? Think about what you could do at level 60... endless grinds for your mount, a few dungeons and a few raids. What could you do at level 70? Yes, PVP, dailies and raids... exactly what you say you can do now.
But now we have "achievements". You can do so much more than just PVP, dailies and raids. You can make groups for still challenging lower level content (Ulduar achievement runs), you can farm for mounts, raise reputations, level a plethora of professions and secondary skills like fishing, cooking and archaeology. You can explore the world, fly around and see pretty sights. You can do low level quests and read them all to get involved with the lore and stories behind them.
And if you've done all that, you can make any of the 9 other classes and check them out.
There's loads of things to do in the game. Maybe you don't find them fun, but that's not the game's fault. Also, 10 million people disagree with you.
And finally, if you don't enjoy the game,... play another game which is fun for you?

I've played since just before BC. I've taken several "vacations" from the game - when it gets too grindy, or when I don't anticipate my few hours here and there of playtime, I cancel my sub for a month or two.
I've enjoyed the changes in Cata, overall. I definitely needed the challenge; I had completely lost interest towards the last few months of wrath. If I never see ICC again, it'll be too soon.
The revamped starting and levelling zones are nicely done and MUCH needed to attract new players to replace ones who are just not interested in playing anymore. Getting from level 20 to 60 used to be horrible, just horrible at certain level areas. The downside is outlands and to a lesser degree, northrend quests feel like they could use some loving now.
The biggest downside I've found was the lack of level 85 normal dungeons, and the steep learning curve for those people who didn't play in vanilla or BC entering heroic level content. Sure, for those of us who played then, it was nice to use more than aoe dps/tank/heals to zerg through stuff. For others, it's a WTH? moment when wipe after wipe happens, and they're yelled at to use CC *what's that?* and focused fire and assists. So what's made things fun for some has made it a chore for others.
No matter which way they go, part of the playerbase will not be happy. I'd cry going back to the wrath playstyle - but I know some who would dance for joy.
There are other games out there for those not enjoying WoW. For me, I'm still enjoying it, and levelling my alts has never been more fun.

Why not loosen the money reigns and open WoW up to 3rd party/player created content? Why not allow others to host custom instances?Because this is Blizzard's game, not a fan based text game? And if they created 'player created content' do you realize how much the !@#$%ing and whining would increase because someone who thought he had a 'great' idea but doesn't get it added in and would then go on a roaring rampage into their forums, calling them out? Plus, we don't need things like that in the game; I know if I started seeing player ideas implemented, I'd probably start considering getting a different game.

Hi there. I am a relatively new player to WOW, as I only started playing in WOTLK. There is so much content in this game that it is truely amazing. Yet, I DO understand the OP's concern. Every game I have played I have heard the same type of feelings expressed by players who have "been there done that".
The OP is bored. That has killed the game for him. My sympathys to him as it is hard coming back from that jaded perspective regardless of what game you are playing. The reality is no matter how we want to candy coat it, it is a GAME. Games have set rules, and functions. They can slap new content in, new graphics, add new questlines but ultimately the underlying mechanics remain the same.
For myself, and obviously, millions of others this is not an issue. We are still exploring, doing achieves, leveling crafters and alts, and beating our heads against the game. The game is evolving slowly, but holding true to the inalterable core ruleset. It may have lost its shine for some, but for me, it still glows brightly.
Dear OP, its time to move on. You need a break at the very least. However, if you cannot sever yourself from the game, please consider this. YOUR discontent is affecting everyone you play with and may be ruining a STILL enjoyable experience for your ingame friends. The kind of feelings you have can tear apart guilds if allowed to fester. So, suck it up and man up. Quit and be done with it or keep it quiet so you don't ruin the game for others.

What missing in this game is an overall sense of community, It's gone. You may find some refuge within the very few long established guilds, but that's it.
That which has never existed can not "be gone."
This sums it up. Too bad. But it does represent the view of many of today's WoW players.
But it did exist...either you missed it or you have too miserable of a personality to have enjoyed it.
My friends list use to be as important as my guild. I interacted with plenty of non guild members for dungeon/raid runs prior to LFD. I didn't have to ask for gearscore/iLevel to fill in spots. I knew who was good and who wasn't. When leaders of other casual guilds need to fill a spot, they just had to ask if any of my members needed a run, it didn't matter who I sent, they knew they were getting a good person/player and vice versa. That all change afterward.
Whatever, complaining that the game is dying when the player base is expanding is a touch moronic and also an oxy-moron. If Blizz hadn't made the changes to the game from the way it was in Vanilla I'd be willing to bet a large wager that there would be a lot less people playing it than there are now.
Expanding on top but eroding from the bottom. Now I can only speak from my perspective, but larger numbers doesn't translate into a better game. In truth it just made it harder for me to find good people/players. Even with this so call "expanding base" and I would like to see internal numbers to back that up not some Blizz headline, we still have a ridiculous que times and horrid LFD runs, so something is not gelling.
Yes change is good when it's based upon customer feed back..this helps improve the game.
But I have to disagree that the player base would be significantly smaller had they not made so many changes. I think Cata is a step back in the right direction, but is it enough to overcome the changes they made in the later part of Wrath, that in "my" opinion were a disaster. Time will tell.
I agree with everything lonewarrior posted.
Back in classic and TBC my Friends List was vibrant and active. Because we actually met other players from our realm (and only our realm) in the game world and went to the dungeons together, we formed lasting bonds. The world was alive with players, and the players knew each other well over time.
The following things have destroyed the world (...of warcraft) that I once knew and enjoyed:
Cross-server LFD
Cross-server LFBG
Paid Server Transfers
Paid Faction Transfers
Paid Name Changes
Flying in all zones

I remember the first few months of king and dungeons were not a walk in the park.
Most of my guild was 78-80 and we got hacked. The guild bank was dry.
So five of us set off to do every dungeon....NO LFD and you can only do a dungeon once a day and with our super gear (or lack of LOL) I remember us breaking for supper before the last one.
We flew every where and it was a long day.
I healed them all on my druid and learned a lot that day.
I was trying to remember if toc was even in at that time. I don't think so.
Nax was fun and we were hearing about another raid coming and would be somewhere in the north.
2 of those friends that day quit playing even before the end of king for personal reasons that had nothing to do with cata or changes.
1 Quit 2 months ago to play rift and cursed the day cata was released.
man those were fun times. Would I do this again in cata, sure if asked to. Would I want to tank or heal the typical people you get in LFD HELL NO
is it because of the people....NO its because of the mess that buzzard has made with the classes and goofy weekly mechanic changes of healers and tanks. And I have tanked and healed most everything so I can do it but without friends its not fun at all.

Just start walking (yea we walked) and walked and walked.
Up the hill right before the bridge.

I will agree that most of the EXTRA COST things should not exist. Yep change a 3 to a 5 $10
change a 35 to a 36 $25.
YEP its a LOT of work on those things and we are sooooo overworked.
the posting of how their player base has expanded.
FUNNY WORDING they use there.
12 million
5 million quit
cata comes out they have 10 million
2 months later its down to 8 million
they can say they GAINED 3 million users when cata came out.
they can say they have 10 million users.
They can say anything they want and then if they were ever pushed they can just say a date and a number and say it was valid when the numbers were collected.
but you can bet your last penny on one thing they, won't report is that 5 million or the 2 million that quit.
these are made up numbers...maybe I work for blizzard LOL
====================
sorry I was not clearer about the hair brush.
IF you didn't get the hair brush you could not get the monocle....yep a quest chain at level 21 in vanilla.
There have been a ton of quest chains even in the beginning.
but at that time all I knew was that I wanted to do the quest and get to a level that allowed me to go to the next area. IF the area had 100 quest and I did 33 and made a level that let me go so be it. I was not sticking around for the others I wanted to get max level. That is how I thought you played and still do.
the problem you mention now is a lot worse. in Deepholm if you don't do a TON of quest you don't get to the Therasene line and the rep. (sorry for spelling) and that is a big thing I had to do...matter of fact I did all quest in all areas on at least one of my 85's (6) with guild rep and rested I didn't do much in the last area on any chrs after my first. What that one called on the alliance side....I are cornfused. Highlands?
