I bet they sell that laptop to women in the 18-30 bracket faster than they can sell vodka to Russians.

Hey all, I wanted to get involved somewhat in an online forum and I figured since I recently fell in love with playing my Holy/Discipline Priest this would be a great place to go.
Feels a little weird just jumping into it though, so that's why I made this introduction.
Also: Blood DK's = Awesome, just sayin.

A bit too awesome, at the moment. In my priest's 10man group we had to respec our regular warrior tank dips and bring in a blood dk alt tank for HC Madness progress to make the cooldowns for Impale work out. :c
Also: Hello! This forum is a tad sleepy, as you can no doubt glean from the posted date of the reply above yours. Quite a few lurkers like myself though, make a thread and ask your wonder, shall it be required.

Wow I didn't notice the last post was that old. I'm fine talking to myself if it comes down to that.
Hmm, I didn't think blood DKs would be better for the implaes over Warriors, but honestly I won't be able to know because my guild sadly has pretty much given up on raids since our second best DPS and our "main" off tank, who ironically happens to be a Blood DK.
Ahh well, raid finder ftw I suppose.

Too lazy to look up the exact abilities and times, but from my perspective it ended up being cycling PS -> single target barrier -> PS on first to third platform on the warrior tank and if I didn't also stack DA ahead of the impale, he'd usually die on two out of three of those. On the blood dk I PS him third platform and he'll survive fine without either DA or PW:S (though I usually have time to give him either or both). Suspect blood shield plays a part because of how shields are amplified when running damage reductions, I'll have to look up the maths sometime.
Either way, I'm just glad I'm past HC spine progress haha, damn that encounter is awful.

Awful as in: Man this is hard!
or awful as in: Blizzard should be striken across the mouth with a bat for creating this?

I'd lie if I said it wasn't hard but it's just mostly just awful encounter design. Rolling DW and bending up the plates with Amalgamation explosions is kind of inventive from a design perspective (it's not particularly interesting to play) but how the tendons was implemented should never have made it ingame. STARS brought like what, 6 or 7 arcane mages with Dragonwraths to beat the pre-nerf burst dps requirement? Just feels like the encounter is a giant gimmick where the design boundaries kept it a really horrible fight. "Okay guys, it has to be on DW's back, you have to have these plates that you bend up and shoot off and throw in some random nasty goo getting squirted all over the raid because we can spin it like a "manifestation of the Old Gods' corruption", ok?"
Searing Plasma is just really, really boring to deal with. Dispelling is not interesting in any way (trivia: the icons look the same but with different colours, so unless you look up the name of the debuff every time it pops up you can't do it if you're colour blind (I'm not but another healer I play with is)). There's literally zero decisions to make for anyone during the encounter and nothing to react to, just a boring slog of getting to the end with a minimum of thought and not mucking up the execution (mainly in the end where it still gets fairly intense, but not in an interesting way like f.e. inside Frostmourne on LK HC was).
Madness isn't that interesting either but at least you have to react to a couple of things along the way.
Yor'sahj was the only really interesting encounter in DS in my eyes because the colour combination is random, though I think all of the first six are decent fights even if most of it has been done before.

Hmm, seems like a bit of a disappointment. I got to experience some of the Firelands and I felt like they were pretty good all around, so I just figured that the DS raid would be better. Ahh well.

If it wasn't the end of expansion tier I think it'd be judged less harshly since the majority of the fights (i.e. 6/8) are decent but the last two fights really drag it down. Especially since people have come to expect something good for the final fight even though Kil'jaeden and LK HC makes for a very small sample size to compare with.
Spine in particular, as previously mentioned. There was a poll over at MMOC a while back asking people who'd cleared 8/8hc which was the worst fight to progress on and something like 70% voted for spine as I recall.

Honestly, I've never been bored farming an instance... until now. Spine and Madness just make me want to tear my eyes out. What makes it worse is when you're going to Kalecgos' platform and.... WHOOPS, FAIL JUMPING MECHANIC KILLS OUR SOLO HEALER, GG BRO.
Spine is just a huge slog of boring, and Madness is a two phase fight where you have to do Phase 1
four
times. People complain about ToC a lot, but at least you could do all four lockouts in the time it takes to do one DS.

Yeah, that jump bug is ridiculous. At one point we wiped on HC Madness at 7% (ph2), then we had our shadow priest (soaking 2nd Impale) die to it on the jump to fourth platform two tries in a row after. Derp.
At least I got to pick up Paint again
last week
for the sake of our guild site. Paint rocks.
