I will. Presidents can't do anything in a 4 year term, Obama needs a second one so he can do something. If the country goes through presidents like I go through tissues, we'll never get out of this mess.
It might seems like he's lazy, but it's kind of hard to do anything when the Senate and House does everything in their power to make sure he can't change anything. I doubt it'll be any different with another Democratic president, and a Republican president would just take us down the Bush path again.
I completely agree with this sentiment. Everyone expected him to fix everything within a year, yet its difficult enough to do it in 4... especially with so much opposition. And a lot of that opposition isn't even about the politics, a lot of people are horrified of left-wing change just for the mere fact that it's left-wing change... even if its for the better.
Opposition? Is both of your memories that short? Obama has had a Democrat majority in both wings of congress AND still does for a while. Republicans might have complained but there was nothing they could have done to stop anything the Democrats wanted to do. The Republicans did not have the votes to stop any bill the Democrats passed.
What ever came out of Obama's first two years as president had no REAL Republican opposition, just a lot of GOP whining. If the Dems listened to them or the TEA party, then that was their own ignorance. The Dems did not need to make the GOP happy and therefore didn't need to listen to them. Are you really going to blame Republican's for everything, in spite of the fact they had no power for 2/4 years (2006, both wings of congress went Dem, therefore Bush lost all power at that point.)
Also, when you say that a president needs a second term to do anything in government, well, that's terribly misinformed. Nearly all presidents pass their major agenda/bills during his FIRST term, not the second. Typically, the second term consist of mostly controversy (Clinton/sex scandal - Bush/War). I mean, really, why would a president wait 4 years to do anything? "Dear citizens of the US, I know the economy is unhealthy, but I have decided to do nothing about it, instead, I'll wait until I'm re-elected again before I propose a bill to fix it" Okay, yeah, I can see a president doing that.
Yes, they do stuff in their second term, but all that is typically reactionary and not planned.
If Obama has passed a bill that'll fix anything, then it's already happened, or will happen in the next 2 years. It will not come in the next term.

Not voting is the dumbest form of protest there is, even if this means you have to hate-vote. Especially when there are large, idiotic political groups like the TEA party all too ready to vote in a Glenn Beck/ Sarah Palin ticket.
And hate-voting is the worst reason to vote...ever. If you like neither candidate, then don't vote for either of them. Just because you can vote doesn't mean you have to. It is my right
not
to vote, just as much as it's my right
to
vote. Just because I can should never be a deciding factor in such a decision. To be honest though, I really don't care. Either way, they'll promise the world, then, when they're in, do an eighth of what they promised, at a quarter the effort and then say !@#$ you about the rest. I just choose to ignore it all. Guess it helps that I haven't watched T.V. in about a year...

I'm praying that Palin runs.
Just because it might give Democrats a hope in hell of winning.

Get your ass to a government class
Lol, okay, whatever. Great come back.
Btw, I've heard many Democrats say that Obama has moved too far right than what he campaigned for. The House wanted a single-payer system, but Obama took it out. He took it our because it wouldn't not pass in the Senate, which had 60 Democrats. Nancy Pelosi said a bill with a single-payer system would pass in the House. Therefore, the majority of the House Dems are more left then Obama, while the smaller Senate Democrats are to the right of Obama.
Now, Ivokk, lets see if you're as smart as you think you are. Why do the House Dems vote more liberal then the Senate Dems? If you have had a government class, you'd know why.

I refuse to vote,
even after I reach the legal voting age
you should always vote, get involved for changing ur country
no, you shouldn't always vote. If anything the U.S needs to LIMIT who can and can't vote. I'll vote the day voting is a privilege and not a right.
look at this link here
should people like those be the ones deciding our future?
Now I'm not saying make voting allowed just to a select few, but make it so people have to pass a quick little test before they gain the right to vote.
hell immigrants, for an immigrant to gain citizenship they need to know a few basic things about our country and how it operates, why shouldn't you need to know a few basic things before being able to vote?
here is another example of this

really? we don't need a woman president we need the one who will help further the country, gender is irrelevant.
If Obama was white he'd still be just as good/bad depending on your point of view.

I don't think Obama is special because of his skin color, nor do I think a women president would be special. If they have views that I like, I'll vote, not because they are different.

In certain parts of the US, they did what you just suggested. You know, make people pass a test to vote. A basic reading test really was all it was. Yeap, America sure did. In the south, just after the Civil War. Yeap, it was a great idea. And the people that imposed it, got just what they wanted. They prevented the people that they thought were too stupid to vote, from voting. Care to guess just who those people were?
Now, do you think it is still a good idea?
PS. What if the US did that and it turned out YOU were not allowed to vote?

Honestly: Who gives a &*!@?
The point where you know Sexism and Racism is really gone is when nobody cares whether or not our president is black or white, or is male or female.
I support democrats because it's the closest thing to my philosophies on politics that could be achieved right now in this #$%^hole of a two party system.

Then I wouldn't vote?, and yes I think it's still a good idea, look at both of my links if they don't know the issues or what the person there voting for stand for then how will they chose?
By who has the best commercial?
Also the issue of racism still exists but segregation isn't even remotely close to how it used to be by the civil war not even in the south, so a person education and knowledge on the questions would be up to them entirley
And think about it there are people who are indeed to dumb to vote.

How old are you? Because I cannot believe that an adult would actually say what you just said. Unless you're trolling.
A government should never limit a person's right to vote, not in the way you're suggesting. Can you not see the amount of corruption that would happen?

Age has exactly nothing to do with maturity.
E: Well, granted a 20 year old will be more mature than a 5 year old. However, with Wowhead age, again, has nothing to do with maturity.

care to enlighten me on the corruption your referring to? I'm not saying have a huge test like the citizenship ones, a quick 10 question test of basic things, they can even tell you what will be on the test beforehand so you can study and figure it out.
It can then be corrected right then and there in less than a minute a person, also you could have up to a 2 month period to take this test, and if you pass it you don't have to retake it for another 5-10 years-ish. Care to tell me how there would be corruption? And if you fail you can retake it next year.
Also care to tell me why "A goverment should never limit a person's right to vote?", and just because it's a right give me a reason why the people mentioned below should be able to vote?
I'm not asking for an aristocracy here, tell me why should the people in the 2 links shown above be able to influence the direction this country will go in, when they themselves don't know even what their candidate stands for or who the guys VP is and what he/she stands for?
Funden got the age thing covered pretty well.

1) a small committee of people probably
2)*shrug*
3)multiple choice b is right ac & d are wrong?
4)probably 70%+ or 7/10
5) a little bit of everything, probably 6 from current events and 4 to general knowledge goverment history (who was 1st president, we have how many branches of goverment etc)
6)scantron like used in schools? as soon as a person is done run it by the machine?
7)answered in number 6
as Already mentioned the people would have a very good idea of what the questions will be like to study.
Questions would probably be something like(assuming 1 of the candidates were Obama it might look something like this )
- Who did Obama elect for VP
- T/F Obama believes in universal health care?
- How many branches of goverment are there?
- what does the first amendment state?
-what type of goverment does the U.S have?
again hypothetical situation so it's not all fleshed out, but it would work kind of like that, wish I could have it more fleshed out, but again a hypothetical situation.
also answer this 1 question

Okay, with that post, either you're trolling or you're a kid. As far as answering your one question. Really, you should have seen this answer coming so I don't know why you would even ask.
Because they are American and have every right to vote, no matter just how dumb they maybe. But really, I guess your real question was "why do they have the right to vote?"
Here's an answer: The founding fathers of the US, in their collective wisdom, saw the flaws of society in all its forms, from the lowliest farmers to the richest people on all continents and understood that for a democracy to survive, all voices must be heard. And through this one, single voice, the correct choice would come through. The founding fathers understood, and wrote about in many papers, the flaws of society, and they intentionally created OUR government to take into account those flaws and set up a system that did not allow one single group to garner absolute power.
It is those idiots, that have the right to vote, that keep groups from getting too powerful. You may think this a stupid statement, but read Madison's and Hamilton's papers and you'll see their thinking. Yes, they knew the average American, even in that time, was a horribly, uneducated moron. And still they said, "Let all voices be heard, let all people vote (except for women and blacks!).
And with that, I'm done for the night. Expect my response to your next post tomorrow. Farewell! And vote! It's good for the soul.
