Im hearing a lot of talk about whats wrong( granted its in response to the title of the thread) but not a lot of solutions. So what battle plan can survive: immaturity, rambo"ism", and enemy contact as well as provide wins with high kill rates?
The reason most premades do well is that they discuss plans in advance and they work together to learn the best strategy and tactics. You will rarely find this in PUG BGs.
In general,
A) study the BG. Each BG has different goals.
B) Keep your team focused on those goals. This is the hardest part in a PUG, it's like herding cats. Two factors here 1) people not understanding the BG and 2) ramboism
C) Develop small unit tactics to accomplish the objectives. Example, druid FC in WSG with a healer and CC protectors.
D) Be changeable, if the starting strategy is not going to work, switch to a new strategy. Sounds obvious but frequently in BGs people will keep trying to do something that clearly isn't going to work. Then they gripe that it is someone else's fault instead of identifying a better strategy and implementing it.
E) Also important is good equipment, spec, skills, and not being a bunch of lowbies.
Even with all of this you can get boned if the BG starts and your side has significantly fewer people.

Anything under 70 doesn't count as real BGs. Despite what enchants, or blue/purps you may have, 70 is the only place where each class is equalized, (or in theory at least) and can compete evenly. Are you kidding? The difference between a twinked 39 and a non-twinked one is smaller than the difference between s3 and blues & greens at 70. Heck, at 19 I could usually kill fully twinked Rogues with my non-twink Hunter, but at 70 I just get stomped. 49 & 59 BGs are the most balanced, imo.
Also, imo Manna biscuits influence the morale of the troops. So please, mages, summon a table if you feel like winning
Since you mention it, with all my chars, the amount of healing I do depends on whether or not I get water. If I do, I'll heal wherever its needed, and drink afterwards. If not, I only heal if its completely neccessary for us to win, to save mana.
Had a fun occurance in AB today, a Mage asked me if I wanted water!

Maybe it's just my server, but the only time the Alliance can win a BG is with a premade with as many twinks as they can muster. And that still only gives them a 2/3 chance of winning.
You know they are bad when my level 15 in no greens can down a fully twinked paladin/rogue/warlock/whatever with 3 times my HP or more. And I stink at PvP,mostly because it's a such a bother to fool around with.
And they gloat over that tiny win oh so much.Never mind they lose so often, don't let reality get in the way of your party.
Horde is good with making do with what we have.Alliance wants to stack the odds in their favor before they even try really.Alliance seems to be afraid to die half the time.Horde will throw themselves on your sword to open up a wedge to get a guy through. Our whole mentality is different.

I was in an EOTS last night where a non-premade Alliance team completely pantsed the Horde side, capping and holding all 4 bases on the way to a 2000-100 spanking that I was almost embarrassed to participate in, since it was as challenging as burning ants or kitten murder. So, there goes your illogical theory.

if ur alliance, stop being a tool, delete ur night elf hunter, and ur human paladin, and make an undead warlock., don't ask questions, just do it.
nooo, we don't want them.
My bro plays ally, and in AB, he always gets to the Stables flag first (Mithril Spurs) (Carrot on a stick) and consistently other people try and take the flag. I get it on my Hordey too, but not half as often. For him it's just the norm, if he takes the Stable flag there'll be 4 other people on it wasting their time.
As for winning, sometimes you have to herd these people. You've got to go with the group because otherwise you're part of the problem, and when they complete their objective and don't know what to do, lead them! Sure some people need to defend, but if you've got 3 bases defended and you've just taken the 4th, then you might as well go for the fifth. Take the initiative, and for God's sake, if you've lost all of your bases. Leave them to it and take the furthest one first, then work backwards. There's nothing that promotes victory in battle like bringing the other side down to your level.
As for WSG, you wanna win, sometimes you've got to go solo on the flag and pray, eventually after your 4th beating someone will see you with the flag, remember the objective and help you.
