Seriously guys this was a smart idea to find a spec that is somewhat more effective than shadow at lower levels, but this spec is so retarded, so useless, so sh*tty, that you just won't play your character anymore and you'll get stuck at lvl 30/40 for months.
Two buttons spec(mostly one) + u dont move because you cast = you just fall asleep.
So IMO if you are not a robot or a total newbie that plays his first video game, shadow is faster than holy at all level, just because you will play your character.
If i leveled shadow i would be 80 right now but instead i'm 42 and i hate this class. My main is rogue and i always thought it was the most %^&*ed class to level but i was wrong.

You just described an Elemental shaman, by the way.

Lightning Bolt spam for 75 levels. Though i personally enjoyed it.

No one forces you to play it.

Holy levelling happens to be an efficient way through the Energizer build. You don't enjoy it, don't do it. Don't come flood the foruns with biased crap.

Nah, you're a poor whiny little kid who got disillusionned after failing at playing a spec that was meant for efficient leveling before level 50. If you don't understand the purpose of the spec, how to make it work, why it works, when it works, etc..., don't blame the spec, blame your own ignorance and your inability to ask simple questions such as: "What am I doing wrong?".

...makes no sense at all, whatsoever. The Energizer spec allows for faster leveling, this fact has been tried, tested and true, it's not an opinion, it's a fact. Everyone who tried it recognized its efficiency, although some, such as you, didn't enjoy it. However, other people who didn't enjoy it still saw how it was superior (although more boring, in some cases, I'll concede that point) than Shadow, up to level 50, when Shadow begins to be more viable. You, however, are of opinion that what is recognized as fact by most of the Priest community that contributes to this site isn't true, based on how you didn't enjoy spamming 2 spells over and over. How is that even close to being relevant?

As others have mentionned, no one forces you to play a spec you don't enjoy playing, why didn't you respec to Shadow as soon as you realized the Energizer spec was not for you? In any case, if you are not a robot or a total newbie, you are intelligent enough to make your own decisions, not to mention that the difference in efficiency and general leveling speed between Shadow and Energizer, between level 10-50 is minimal. As long as you carry drinks all the time, going OOM isn't that big of a deal. Furthermore, if you have other toon(s) which can supply your new Priest with BoA gear, you can easily level up to 80 without even spending a single talent point. This goes to show that what you spec into has very little relevance on your leveling speed. What matters is that you keep going, keep pushing buttons, no matter if you're pushing 6 different buttons in your rotation or only 2.

Thank you for coming and sharing with us your valuable opinion in a way that encourages discussion and provides extensive comparison between a) what is recommended in the Energizer guide and b) how/why it doesn't work, based on something more relevant than "I'm 42 now, I'd be 80 if I had done it my way", which proves nothing. The fact is that you're 42 because of what you did, not because of the Energizer spec. Another fact is that you simply don't know what level you'd be by now if you had played a different spec while leveling, since you didn't do it and I doubt you own a time-machine that would allow you to explore different realities generated by different decisions made at some point in time.

I thought your kind preferred to hang on thottbot and post comments about how everything is Hunter gear, but I guess you guys evolved with time...

This spec is badass. I love it!
This is absolutely the most fun I have ever had leveling any toon in the game. Thanks, Civ.
Second on damage meters early on in SM yesterday was greeted by, "healer doing that much dps? WTF?"
I had to make an account, just for this. Thanks a lot, this guide has helped me out so much. My priest might only be level 28, but I've never enjoyed leveling a class so far as this. I never thought Holy Fire>Smite>Smite>Smite, loot and repeat could be fun ;)
Having said that, the spec is more than capable of solo'ing elites without the second glyph. I've had the most solo'ing fun since my Paladin :P
I respecced to your lolsmite spec, and I am having bucketloads of fun - especially in BGs:
This really goes to show that it pays to do some basic study of talent trees, you never know what you find.

Priest is almost to her 30's now using this spec and path. Awsome for leveling! I did a priest before, leveled shadow the entire time. This was on a pvp server as well, yuck. This time around it's much faster and I can heal like a champ too. I can dps and heal in a LFD 5 man, and have plenty of staying power.
Mobs blow up in a few hits, and can take on elites higher level then man no problems. I will probably spec shadow later on as I remember blowing stuff up and melting faces with shadow spec. This has made the early levels bearable now.
My priest is 48 right now and I've been leveling her all the way using this spec. It does wonders, no kidding. Haven't died a single time while fighting mobs and they go down pretty fast. I've even taken on 4-5 mobs at a time without much problem (accidentally, of course: doing that is not advisable at all if you value your mana).
Love this spec + style.

advantages:
- fast leveling
- burn through mobs
- can heal and dps
- people go: dps-ing as holy? Answer: No, dpsing as Energizer-Smite.
- protect party by keeping shield up on tank, dispelling and curing (regardless of your role)
- healer goes OOM halfway the bossfight: no problem. Energizer-Smite priest is here!

disadvantages:
- sometimes you're dps-ing away at a mob, and then you realise you can't really damage a mob 6 levels higher than you. But they can hurt you. Because of Shield and Inner Fire it can take a while before your realise this.
- makes you lazy. I switched to Shadow at level fifty. Couldn't grasp it. Went back to Energizer-Smite. (level 52 now). Will try to learn Shadow at some point.

I have to say thanks. I've been working on my priest pretty much solely running randoms. I figured the fastest way to get into ques is roll Holy. Unfortunately for me, I found that I was drinking after every pull or so, constantly having to use mana pots, and wishing there was something I could do to help out with my mana situation. After looking into crafted gear and talents, any possible enchants, elixirs etc... I learned that there isn't much in the way of improving my mp5. Spellpower wasn't and still isn't a problem as I have a full set of heirloom with chants and at least what I feel is respectable gear for my level. Long story short, I tolerated that torture for about 45 levels until I got the bright idea that it might be possible to heal using some of the benefits from the Discipline tree. I didn't research every post out there but I also didn't have to look far since The Energizer post kind of stood out. Basically, you put together a post that answered all of the questions I was asking myself and then some. Not only do I NOT have mana issues, I am able to heal pretty effortlessly and as an added bonus dish out competitive numbers in the dps department. So to you sir, I again say Thanks.
I love this spec. Thank you, Chiv, for making my second priest bearable to level.

Those are only from the last 3 (most recent) pages of comments on the Energizer thread... I'm not saying that their opinion is necessarily better than yours, I'll let everyone else be the judge of that.

Really? Stuck at 30/40? Is it really THAT hard to auto follow and hit 2-3 buttons? If you have been leveling in a cave or on a private server for the past few months I would suggest you read up on the LFG Interface .

You don't have to answer mainly because this whole post is a troll post.

You said that shadow is faster than holy, wrong. Once you hit level 15 you'll level ridiculously fast it's not even funny via the LFD finder.

You said that you'd get stuck at 30/40's for months, wrong. It took me a few hours to get through those 20 levels, much faster than if I quested.

If your post was supposed to say that LFD as a healer is boring, I won't disagree with you. But learn to correctly write (reading is fundamental, stay in school) out your thoughts and express yourself better because what you maybe thinking isn't what you write down in your post.

And if you hate the class so much, just delete your toon? Save the rest of us the 2 seconds it would take to put your toon on ignore and never have to deal with you again.

you dont care if your spec does insane damage if you don't enjoy playing it. Best spec doesnt mean best damage, it's a whole thing that makes it playable. If i tell you right now go spam 4 smite on 300000+(idk) mobs 0-60 for a week non stop instead of enjoying your life, would you do?

I have levelled three priests. I intend to level a whole bunch more. It is only in Cataclysm that Shadow will be better than Holy in any way. At the moment it fails on all fronts. Drinking every 2 mobs, or killing things incredibly slowly. Those are your options when you level Shadow pre-44.
