I'm having a problem with my guide layout suddenly breaking...
Is there a way I can have someone help me troubleshoot it? I'm almost 100% positive it should work how I WANT it to, it's just...not.
Looks like a broken div tag somewhere, but I'm not sure how... they all seem to be in order and paired properly.
I have two guides, one is the main one and one is the builder/tester, where I'll copy paste it to the main guide. Main guide has they layout I want (mostly, as far as the toggles and headers for toc go), tester has the actual info with tables/tabs set up.
...Halp?
(Specifically: I have a 2nd subheader and the toggle underneath it somehow only showing when I have the 2nd of 2 toggles (above it, under the first sub header) untoggled (showing). The last toggle and all it's tabs/tables appears to work fine while in this state, but there is a broken "/div" that shows up after that 2nd toggle from the first subheader while it's open. That's the only thing. ARRRRGH.)

Give me the number of the guide (in the URL it will say guide=####) and I'll take a look at it for you.

Oh tysm
The main guide is 2315 (for how toggles and headers are supposed to look, not finished but I got the first two sections to show you) the one with the broken tag is 2319

Looks like the issue is that you have two toggler/div pairs with the same ID, "HORDE".
Also, you can't have spaces in the ID attributes. Everything after the space will be ignored.
e.g.
test
text
test
text
works out like:
test
text
test
text
They're both just triggering the first div with that ID.(##RESPBREAK##)16##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

Oh god, I knew it would be something silly like that. I was sitting there going over the code for like an hour letter by letter and it all looked fine... Forgot to add the numbers like I did to my original lol
Thank you so much :D
(This brings back memories of my high school webpage/C++ classes lol)
EDIT: wait. I just checked my tester guide which has all the proper tabs/ tables I want to use... My toggle IDs are single numbers so I shouldn't be having an issue.... But it's still broke.
Journeyman cooking subheading is still stuck under the 40-75 toggle. What else am I missing? :<
(I think I confused you... On the main guide ignore the whole bottom half with the table that has the toggle in it. That was an experiment, not gonna use it. I'm interested in the layout of the vanilla header, then the toggles, then the burning crusade header, then more toggles, etc. works there to a certain point (didn't finish fixing up the layout before I switched to using a testing guide)...but somehow, even though I'm doing the same thing in the tester guide, it broke.)
EDIT2: Sigh...now the tabs all the way at the bottom in guide 2326 randomly broke...

So I'm putting the first guide i mentioned on hold for a bit until I have it all sketched out before I start coding it again.
Thank you for all your help asakawa! <3
So I have another question: I see some guides have a pretty image behind their title (a banner?) in the guides page.
How do I do that?

asakawa
No problem, happy to help.
We do those images on a case by case basis.

Ah. Cool. Do we have to request it once our guide is live, or do you just pick well liked guides, or...?
Well, I'm ALMOST done with one of the guides now (not the one that's on hold). Thanks again for your help! This thread and a few others were instrumental in my learning :D
More questions
Is it possible to get headers to be centered in the page.
So, the and tags. I think it could look pretty neat, visually.
Answered my own question. BORDERLESS TABLES (Edit: apparently, the align tag works too. Derp.) :D Still need to know if we can alter the heading SIZES.
Related, are there more than those two tags? I'd like to have more than a 2-tier TOC if possible...Unless the only way to do that is to hand create a toc with anchors and links. o_o
Is there another way to mimic the effect of the headline tags (the dropshadow effect thing)?
Doesn't matter anymore.
Can you make horizontal rules not take up 100% of the screen area? Make them shorter? (Guess I could use underscores....)
one other question, might sound silly: is there a way to change the size of text other than . I tried and nothing happened.... like... or something? I'm feeling like I'm missing something here.
Thanks! <3

For more complex ToCs you need to make them manually yeah. >.<
Div align doesn't seem to work so well to position the rule so I would use tables for that.:
No way to change sizes beyond \, \, \, \, \ and \

What is the code to put numbers on item icons?
so instead of x#, it'd be ?
I've seen it in recipe descriptions and such just not sure how to duplicate it. :D

I don't think that's open to BBCode to achieve though it's been a while since I did lots of this stuff and it's not impossible that I'm forgetting something.

Hmmmm. Well, it's not vitally important, would just be cool to do.
Thanks!
(Sidenote: I posted my guide for review finally! PHEW! *crosses fingers*)

Also has options Url/Thumb/Size/Width/Height/Float/Border
I need to know more about pictures options.. !
For my transmo guide, i want pics at left (thumbnail50%size + click=100%sizepopup) and list of item at right of the pic.
Can you help me?
- about pics: to get thumbnail (automaticlysizeddown from the original if possible) and the 100% in popup.
- about float text of the itemlist : if i
float=right
the text is on the right
corner
.. but i just want the text
next to
to the picture.
very thank you

Try using:
For the text you should probably just use a table to organise things the way you want them as floating things can get a bit random unless you're careful.

How can I use, for example, a repeatable quest, the blue "!" icon beside the name of the quest?
> Is this the best resource (thread) for codes/tags to make comments and guides look/work better? Or is there an updated collection of these commands elsewhere?
It would be awesome to have Wowhead (or a talented guide creator) create a "Guide to Creating Great Wowhead Guides" with all the complexities of all the codes/tags, etc. that would make a beautiful guide. I have only found one guide called
Making Classy Class Guides of Guidance
which is VERY basic, and obviously with a focus on 'class' guides. There are so many cool and intricate commands it seems available for us to use, but no concise guide for those interested in learning more.
Thank you for any help - much appreciated!

This is a good place to ask any questions, sure.
This guide
goes into greater depth regarding the guide/staff only BBCode tags and their use so it's worth a look.
